    1. [CHAUDOIN] Obituary: Mrs. M. A. Chaudoin
    2. Audrey Hancock
    3. >From the records/files of R. S. Sanders: This obituary was handwritten out, and perhaps not in the script of R. S. Sanders. This is probably Matilda Ann (Wilkerson) Chaudoin, the first wife of Lewis Chaudoin, Jr. who died perhaps on 19 April 1832. It sounds as though she perhaps died of consumption (T.B.). The "little son" is not named, and I do not have his name. Can anyone supply that information? According to my (ASH) records, Lewis, Jr. was s/o Lewis CHAUDOIN (Sr.) and Katurah "Catherine" "Kitty" MIMMS. Lewis CHAUDOIN (Sr.) was s/o Francois/Francis CHAUDOIN & Sarah WEAVER. If anyone has additional information or corrections to this please let me know. After Matilda's death, I have that Lewis, Jr. married a Jane E. Nelson, but I do not know if that is correct. Can someone validate? Audrey ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Obituary May 18, 1832 "The Religious Herald" "M. A. CHAUDOIN Died in the county of Goochland, on the 19th ult. of a pulmonary complaint, Mrs. M. A. Chaudoin, consort of Lewis Chaudoin, junior, after an illness of nearly two years, which she bore with Christian patience and fortitude. She professed religion for five years before her death, but was not baptized until last summer, at which time she was so low, that some of her friends feared it was unsafe for her to be baptized; but she followed her Lord in the watery tomb, and was not known to suffer thereby the samllest injury. On seeing a change in her looks, the night on which she died, some friend asked her--'What is the matter?,' to which she replied, 'I hope I am dying.' She was then asked 'if she felt Jesus precious to her.' She answered, 'Yes.' And in a few moments expired. She has, we trust, entered into that rest where troubles are no more. But she has left behind her a kind husband, and one little son, besides a number of friends and relatives to lament her death. May we all remmber that we must shortly follow."
