His daughter Emily had a daughter Julia who married my Great Grandfather John Lee Williamson Jr. The family recently found (also in an old trunk) a recipe for tanning hides, among old papers of John Lee Williamson's. It began as "A Recipe for Tanning Hides. The first thing to be done: soak hard hides until soft. Then to 30 gallons of water, add one peck of lime and one peck of ashes" I was just wondering if this could have been from this old recipe even though it was in Julia's mother in law's handwriting.
