Yeah! It was good to hear from you. My mother in law was Iona Chaudoin Wallace. Her parents were Samuel H. & Martha (mattie) Davis Chaudoin. I'm trying to get names and how they are kin on the pictures that Iona left. Some she wrote names on and some she didn't. Also Ella Pierce Wallace (Iona's mother in law) kept journals during the late 1930's. I'm trying to go through them and match up info with pictures. Will be glad to share information with you. Who was Joseph Chaudoin's mother and father?
Hello CHAUDOIN researchers: We have now had 5 participants in our CHAUDOIN, etc. Y-DNA PROJECT. However, all men participating do not bear the CHAUDOIN surname, so we are still in the dark as to how those bearing the CHAUDOIN surname may or may not match with others. In other words we do not have any base DNA participants for the CHAUDOIN surname or even SHADOWEN, SHADOWENS, SHADOAN, etc. who claim descendancy from Francois CHAUDOIN. You may check this out at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~grannyapple/CHAUDOINetc%20DNA/RESUL TS.html or access via: http://tinyurl.com/488xe We have our first participant bearing the CHAUDRON surname, so at the present that person stands alone. His results do not match with any other participants. We need CHAUDOIN, SHADOWEN, SHADOWENS, SHADOAN, etc. men who bear one of the surnames and who deem themselves to be descended from Francois CHAUDOIN to participate. Some/One of the SHADDEN/SHADDAN participants may be a match for CHAUDOIN, but until we get some known representatives to participate, we cannot go further. Are there any CHAUDOIN, SHADOWEN, SHADOWENS, SHADOAN individuals willing to participate for your branch? Sometimes various family members share the cost to sponsor an individual. Remember: DNA used is called junk DNA and does not give away medical DNA tendencies, which some tend to believe. If interested, please visit: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~grannyapple/CHAUDOINetc%20DNA/DNA%2 0HOME.html or access via: http://tinyurl.com/488xe So, if we are to prove CHAUDRON & CHAUDOIN are not related and that our ancestor Francois CHAUDOIN is not a CHAUDRON descendant, we must have some CHAUDOIN participants...and that person must be a male bearing the CHAUDOIN surname or one of its variants who has a paper trail back. Dear CHAUDOIN family: I have some family photos shared by Bonnie Wallace on my websites containing CHAUDOIN & JUDD and perhaps other family members of whom you may be aware. I am in need of validation / clarification of identities on some of the photos on these sites, as Bonnie indicates the identifications were made by another. I thought possibly some of you might be able to help or put me in touch with someone who might be able to do so. Will be adding more to the site, so visit back frequently. Would you please look at these sites and see if you can help me? Would appreciate anything you might validate or add to. It really helps when you give a little extra...like maiden names of ladies and their married names, names of spouse of both men and women, parents names, birthdates, death dates, places of residence(s), etc. Anything that will help in identifying folks for me. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~grannyapple/CHAUDOIN/PHOTOS_Miscell aneous.html or access via: http://tinyurl.com/2f7pyy http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~grannyapple/CHAUDOIN/Data%20J.html or access via: http://tinyurl.com/2cdos4 CHAUDOIN FAMILY HOMEPAGE: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~grannyapple/CHAUDOIN/CHAUDOINhomepa ge.html Audrey (Shields) Hancock Portage, Michigan Husband, David, is CHAUDOIN Descendant of: Benjamin Samuel CHAUDOIN -----Original Message----- From: Vicki Kamerer [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, January 28, 2008 8:32 AM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: RE: [SPAM] - Re: [CHAUDOIN] Photo: Joseph "Joe" Daniel CHAUDOIN: ID help needed - Email found in subject It was great to hear from you Bonnie. We have Francis Chaudoin born in Germantown Goochland,Virginia as the first of the line, son John Shadden Chaudoin born in Chesterfield Co Va, then Thomas born Robertson Co Tn, then Byron born in Lavaca Co Tx and Wallace, Lavaca Co Tx. There are so many ways it was spelled on census records it is difficult to trace sometimes. **************Start the year off right. It is too late for your paper, but my sister and I made a trip to Halletsville Texas and went to the courthouse to look up info on Wallace A Chaudoin, our gggrandfather. All we could find in the criminal and other court records was Wallace was charged with shooting into a man's house without his permission. There was one charge of horse theft, but it turned out the man purchased the colt from Wallace and never paid, so Wallace took it back. No record of anything more sinister. Byron Chaudoin married Mary Jane Creasman(Crissmon, Chrisman). Byron was listed as a farmer on census records. He died in Civil War on a ship and buried in Maryland. He was on the confederate side. No record he was a doctor. His father, Thomas Chaudoin was well know and owned a large number of acres around Halletsville. He possibly was at the Alamo also. If you Google his name in republic of Texas you can see some articles with his name listed. Wallace was blind in his later! years. My mother remembers him as a child staying at their house and whittling, telling stories of his mother and grandmother, supposedly Cherokee from Tn. Wallace Creasman was Mary Jane's relative, we aren't clear exactly the relationship, as his wife Biddy Scrimsher, never had children. After her death, she is buried in an abandoned cemetary in Morovia Tx, he remarried and had children in his old age. Unfortunately courthouses burned and records were lost. If you get the opportunity to travel to Hallettsville, go to the courthouse clerk of court. They have the actual records for the Chaudoin's that are over 150 yrs old in the vault and you can actually handle them and read some history. Who are your parents, grandparents, etc.? Does anyone know the lineage for Virginia? She is probably the one who died from consumption in the early posting of her obituary, but it never gave any lineage information. Was her mother perhaps the Polly Shaudoin living with the CHAUDOIN ladies in the 1860 Census? Who is Polly? Would assume she was a CHAUDOIN by marriage. Audrey 1860 U. S. If the object of life be to prepare for an eternal state of being beyond the grave, and to incite others to that preparation, then may our sister be said fully to have fulfilled her mission--though cut off in the morning of her day. In its first hours she commenced her work. Though of an amiable, natural disposition, feeling the need of an atonement for sin, she applied to a Saviour all sufficient, rejoiced in His forgiving love, and cheerfully performed His service. But soon our Father saw that her work was done, and sent for her to Himself. And gloriously impressive was the scene of her farewell to earth. She fully realized its solemnity; and yet, instead of viewing death as the grim monster, he appeared to her as the kind friend, who had come to carry her home to heaven. In her non language, all was peace. With a mingled earnestness and deliberation, which was sublimely eloquent, she impressed on each member of the family and each attending friend, the claims of religion and its bright reward, while loving messages were sent to each friend who was absent, and the smallest act of kindness was gratefully acknowledged. May each one thus addressed profit by her exhortations--follow her in life as she followed Jesus, triumph with her in death, and at last, reign with her in immortal glory.

It should have read: October 10, 1874...not 1847. R. S. Sanders seemed to reach that same conclusion on his review of the 1850 Census. This is backed by R. S. Sanders "1850" listing of the census and a review of online Census Records by me [ASH]. Catherine "Kitty" was very much alive at least until 1870, so 1874 appears to be the correct death date for Kitty.
