We were always told by our grandmother that her Indian blood came from her Chaudion grandmother....which would have been Emily Jane. But have never been able to trace it.. Hello, Martha, I have seen your postings in the past. In the past you have named her as Eliza CHAUDOIN at times, I believe. Andrew Chaudoin b 1763 had a son, Thomas Guthrie Chaudoin b 1792. Is he the one you name below as "Thomas Chaudoin"? I have him as marrying 3 times according to the research of Robert Righter, now deceased. Perhaps there is some kind of relationship, but as yet I have seen no reference to her in any of the estate papers of R. S. Sanders. I will surely post any information should it be found among R. S. Sanders research. Are you looking at possibly an illegitimacy and thus that would be the reason for Andrew accepting guardianship? What leads you to believe she was originally a FIELD? Yes, David, I have your correspondence from the past. Thank you so much for sharing what you know about your ancestors previously and in today's correspondence. All will hopefully help us in bringing together and recording information along with the sources. You have some great information here, and this information is adding to the information currently under discussion found in the estate papers. I am working right now to pass on information found among these papers of the apparent estate of R. S. Sanders, a deceased family researcher, who I corresponded with some years agon. I accepted papers from a buyer who found them among her purchase from his apparent estate. As I go through I will also try to point out what has been shared in the past from others involving certain CHAUDOINs, and along the way I will add to the information when I can with census research. Within these papers were correspondences to R. S. Sanders from various individuals involving the CHAUDOIN surname. As I go through the papers I am ferreting out genealogical information, so I truly appreciate anyone who can help by sharing what they know and hopefully be able to provide vital information and sources for what they say. Hopefully we can eventually build a timeline or biography of at least what is known of the many ancestors. And for Louisa the only dates I have found is when she was a boarder at her Aunt Sarah Cheeks home in the 1880 Marion County census, her age was given as 48 years old. Louisa married Austin Shipp, ca 1850 and they moved to Texas, he was a Dr of sorts and treated the confederate soldiers there in Texas, he took sick with camp fever and died in Texas during the Civil War. One account says that he is buried in Prairie Lea, Caldwell Co Tx. They had at least three children, James Calvin, Lemuel C, and Mary Elizabeth. Louisa must have come back to Marion County Tennessee after Austin's death, at least for a while, some accounts say she is buried in Ozona, Crockett Co Texas. Sarepta married William Little and they lived in Cherokee County Alabama. They had five children. Sarepta's husband William was believed killed on May 2 or 3, 1863 at Chancellorsville, VA. Amanda died of typhoid fever the 27th of July 1922, And he then married Ellie Elizabeth Burrage the 25th of November 1923 and they had six children, Helen Elizabeth, David Henry, Martha Alice, Samuel Benton, Mary Lloyd and Anna Vey, Also they adopted a daughter, Jessie Ruth (Goff). Helen only lived about 24 hours and Mary Lloyd died when she was nine months old, (cause of death, asthma and double pneumonia). Sarah, Emma, Samuel G, David F and Lamira are all buried in the Chaudoin family cemetery at Jasper and Samuel's first wife Amanda Condra is there also. Two of Samuel's children, (Helen and Mary Lloyd), by his second wife, (Ellie E. Burrage), are buried there too. There is a Nancy (Chaudoin) Lane buried there also but I haven't found who her parents are. Sarah W, b 25th Aug 1798 - d 19th June 1889, daughter of David & Mary, married Anderson Cheek, b 4th June 1798 - d 26th April 1846, they had four children, Eliza, Thomas, Ann, Nancy Valina, and lived at Cheekville, Marion County Tn. which is now the town of Whitwell. They are buried in the Cheekville Cemetery there. After Anderson's death 26 April 1846, she married Henry Yarnell, and they must have both been pretty well fixed financially for they made a contract that what you have is yours and what I have is mine. She owned two slaves, (Dicey and her son Morgan). In the 1880 census after the slaves had been set free, living right next door to Sara W Cheek were Dicey age 49 and son Monroe Cheek. age 23, (Freed slaves often took the family name as their own). Catherine, b 1799, daughter of David & Mary, married William H Druin b 1802, the 24th of October 1824 in Green County Ky. They are listed on the Marion County Tn. census of 1830, 1840, and 1860. They had six children including James A, William H, Margaret C and Lamira T, who married David Franklin Chaudoin her first cousin. The names of their first two children are unknown and must have died between the 1830 census and the 1840 census. David Franklin Chaudoin b 1828 perhaps there were unknown others. Others that I know of: Sarepta Chaudion Little Born about 1831....Buried Mt Bethel Cemetary, Broomtown, AL Emily Jane Chaudion, My gggrandmother...was born about 1825 and died in 1890 and is buried in Old Moore Cemetary, Dekalb County AL on Lookout Mountain, Fort Payne, AL... She was married to Franklin Heard Standifer in 1843.They had a daughter Julie (my GGrandmother) who died when my grandmother was only 9 years old. We were always told by our grandmother that her Indian blood came from her Chaudion grandmother....which would have been Emily Jane. But have never been able to trace it.. I am still trying to connect Eliza Chaudoin to Andrew Chaudoin. My Eliza married George Washington Fields in 1834 in Green County, Kentucky. I would really appreciate any help. I believe my Eliza was born Eliza Field and that she chose Andrew Chaudoin as her guardian. Thanks, Martha
