Pat, If you are going to be in Providence, make sure to go by the Rhode Island Historical Society on Hope Street. Wonderful collection - lots of Chace/Chase material. Quaker Records from the late 1600s through the late 1800s from most of New England. In Fall River there is also an Historical Society, but in order to get into the archives you must make an appointment. Good stuff down there. Almost all years of old Fall River city directories. It was fun to look up addresses of folks who used to live there - Miller Chace for example - and go and see if their houses were still standing. Miller's was not, but George Albert Chace's was and others in the area. The Lizzie Borden House in Fall River is worth a look. It is now a bed and breakfast and you can actually stay overnight in the bedroom where Lizzie's stepmother was murdered! The owners also give tours. In Boston, make sure you visit the New England Historical and Genealogical Society on Newbury Street.
