ALL, Some time ago I came across a set of volumes entitled the American Biographical Index,(A.B.I.),doubtless many of you know of this. This is an index of biographies,(250,000 of them), of famous Americans in about 6 volumes and published by Saur. Some time ago I noticed there were about 200+ CHASE people from William of the Winthrop fleet on down. If memory serves me the index is for microfilm/micro fiche copies of these biographies that are held by the Library of Congress. Recently I looked in a copy of this index which is held by the local library and again I believe these biographies are obtainable either on inter-library loan or possibly for purchase. As I live in the U.K. this might be awkward for me but I would be interested if any of the Group knew or could find out more about this. It certainly seems like a good source for family research.
