    3. Dear All, Today I found a secret place. There is an internet game called Geocaching (www.geocaching.com) and it is basically like treasure hunting with GPS (Global Positioning Satellite). There are caches placed or found all over the country. The secret place I found on the web is in Kansas City (on the Kansas side), and is the oldest continuous residence in Johnson County, Kansas, built around 1869. The reason it is interesting to others is because of its age, the reason it is interesting to me is that the house was built by my Great Great Grandfather Thomas Chace's brother Elijah Cornell Chace. I lived in Kansas City for about 15 years and never once did I know that the house existed, let alone where it was. Now, I live on the other side of the planet and won't be back to KC anytime soon. I rely on the internet for a lot of the information I have found about my family - but I think there is a huge difference between a webpage or a piece of paper and a physical location in which one of your ancestors lived. Granted, the internet helped me discover that the house exists, but seeing it with my own eyes would be more rewarding. I have been at this genealogy pursuit nearly a year now and am pleased every time such a gem of information is found. I try to perform new and creative searches on search engines and every once in awhile come up with such a find. How many of you have similar stories - finding out that an ancestral home you knew nothing about is just on the other side of town? I would love to hear some of your experiences in finding the unknown and the hidden.
