    1. [CHASE-L] Last Will and Testament of Thomas Chace Sr.
    2. Jeffrey Chace
    3. Hi All, I have just added the Last Will and Testament of Thomas Chace Sr. to my website if you are interested. What a fantastic genealogical source are wills. Thomas's will list all of his children and their locations. When my family decided to move from the safety of our ancient New England home, we sure spread out across the country. Washington D.C. is not so far away, but Kansas certainly is, South Dakota even farther, and California, clear on the other coast. Alonzo, the listed executor of the will, ended up in California. His wife Cordelia M. Wood, daughter of Benjamin and Mary B. Wood of Thompkins Co. New York, ended up dying on August 12, 1927, in Hollywood, California, of all places. And, Alonzo died March 23, 1930, in Beverly Hills, California (having changed the spelling of his name to Chase). Their children were Julia Forbes Chase (b. Dec. 17, 1863 in Dryden NY), Mary Wood Chase (b. January 1, 1868 in Brooklyn, NY), and Edith Emily Chase (b. January 21, 1870 in Ithaca NY). Anyone have anymore information about them? Especially, Alonzo? Maybe some of your Californians know something about them? (Judy Chace Needham, wink wink?) 1. [CHASE-L] Thomas Chace Sr; Calif. Executor Alonzo, and Burton Chace
    2. Judy Needham
    3. Jeffrey Chace asked - see his email entitled "Last will and Testament of Thomas Chace, Sr" dated 22 May - if I (being a resident of Santa Monica in Los Angeles County - and working in Beverly Hills) knew anything about Alonzo, the listed executor of Thomas Chace, Sr's, will. Alonzo died August 12, 1927 in Beverly Hills, California. I'm sorry, I don't. However, there was/is a prominent Chace family in the area - Burton W. Chace. Burton was an important, and long-term, Supervisor of Los Angeles County. There is a wonderful park named after Burton Chace in Marina Del Rey. Supervisor Chace died (auto accident, I believe) 22 August 1972. The person to ask about him is Virginia Reeder as he was her second cousin. And, perhaps Ginger knows something about Alonzo and descendants......... If anyone is interested in Burton Chace, this bio is from the Long Beach Mayor's office where Burton Chace was mayor from 1947-1953. "Burton W. Chace (1947 – 1953) Burton Chace was born in 1900 (JCN note: according to CA records, birth was 6 July, 1901) in Stanton, Nebraska. He went through the Stanton school system and eventually graduated from the University of Nebraska. He drove all the way to Long Beach in 1923 with a college friend. After a few months, Chace’s father came to California and together they engaged in a lumber business. After many years and several expansions, Burton Chace became the sole owner of the Chace Lumber Company. Throughout this time, he became heavily involved in civic affairs and served on the Board of Education from 1933 to 1941. In 1938 he was elected President of the Board of Education. Chace was elected to the City Council in 1945 and reelected in 1948" Judy Chace Needham
