I got quite a laught out of a story appearing in THE CHASE CHRONICLE in which J. Montgomery Seaver, President of the American Historical-Genealogical Society faces a fraud order by the superintendent of mails, Washington DC Apparently he'd been taking pages from the phone book, writing to the people (a mass mailing ! gasp!) and selling genealogies purporting to go back to William the Conquerer !!!! (Vol 20 Jan - Apr 1930 p-31) Sounds familiar doesn't it ??? or better yet "An oldie but a goodie !" Derek Chase
