Hi,Everyone, I am fairly new to this Group and this is my first posting t so please excuse me if I go over old ground. I have a reference to William CHASE, born 15 June 1621 at Rogate,Sussex,England. Two sources are given 1)NEHGR V87: 258, Dr. John B. CHACE 2) CHASE,Gladys,Marie "William Chase of Yarmouth" 1995 I have checked the Parish Register for Rogate and there is no reference to a Chase 5 years either side of that date. I also checked for the period around 1600 in search of his father without a positive result. I do realise that as non-conformists William's parents may not have had him baptised in the Church of England but the West Sussex Records Office has no knowledge of a non conformist organisation in the area. I also am aware that there was a "pocket" of CHASE families in the Sussex area To cast further doubt on this information William's parents are shown as William Chase and Mary TOWNLEY and I have some doubt as to whether this "link" was made at the time when every "Chase" family member was trying to establish blood lines to the TOWNLEYs Is there anyone in the Group who could possibly check the 2 sources given above to see if there is any further information?
