All, Since my initial message regarding the formation of a "COMMON" Chase database I have had some responses, all in favour of the concept. I do not know how many members there are in this group so it is not easy to estimate the interest. For the Project to be successful it is necessary for those who want information be prepared to give some. If there are those who are not prepared to share their data this is their choice entirely but I for one am happy to share mine. If people using info. supplied from me do not care to acknowlede where it came from that really does not bother me. I have received so much data, given freely , from others, that I do not feel I have a right to withold what I have I n some cases I cannot be entirely sure where it came from. Where ever possible I will try to work my way through my database inputting sources. I SHOULD STRESS THAT WHILE I HAVE MANY SOURCES IN MY ORIGINAL DATA SHORTAGE OF WWW SPACE HAS RESTRICTED ME FROM INCLUDING IT IN THE CURRENT "CHASE" DATA ON MY WEB SITE. Providing I can arrange space on an appropriate Server I would hope to keep a database of ALL queries put to the Group and to log, WITH THE COOPERATION OF MEMBERS, the responses if any. For those of you interested in this project I would like to hear what YOU would like to see in the way of information or facilities to improve the the workings of the Group. I am sure you will all realise this entails a fair degree of work and I could not commit myself to forming a One Name Study Group as defined by the Guild Of One Name Studies( GOONS, no not a joke a very serious organisation) but maybe something to think about. I must say I am surprised that among the hundreds of One Name Study Groups the CHASE name is not among them, remembering that the name is considered by some to be among the Top Fifty in the USA. It is a Great name and for myself, an Australian living near London, I feel somewhat proud to be descended from those early pioneers who never whinged and whined about their lot but went to new lands to make a new life and in the process a new nation. I am fortunate in that this applies not only to the USA but to Canada and Australia as well. I already have my complete line from the first William so.. MY wish list? 1) To resolve William Chase's ancestry here in England and in the process do likewise for Aquil Chase. 2) To "ratioalise" and make readily available the information about the CHASE family so as to either be succesful with A) and ensure that the same old ground is not covered by new researchers. I look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible even if the response is negative. If you see great difficulties tell me about them. I apologise for the length of this email but not for its content.
