Since others seem to be having such good luck making connections, I wonder if anyone has any info at all on Sam Houston Chase, a carpenter who died in a fall from a roof in 1874 in McNairy Co TN. I have been unable to find any information of any kind about him. His wife, Anne Deaton, apparently knew little about his antecedents, where he came from, etc. and never met his family. They had one child, my grandfather, Lem Houston Chase, b. February 29 1874. He was supposedly 5 months old when his father was killed. The mother later remarried and the family ended up in Alcorn Co MS. On the 1880 McNairy Co census Anne is back with her parents with her young son, and the census states the child's father was born in Tennessee. The 1910 Alcorn Co census states he was born in NC - so there you go! I have been up against this stone wall for 20 years and would be eternally grateful for ANY kind of help. Thanks much, Nelda
