This is most interesting. I am aware that both William Senior and Junior were somewhat "off center" but the interpretation of " A child of ill qualitys and sore afflictions" could quite easily have meant,inthose days,that he was what we now call sickly. An Article by DR.Oliver Wendell Holmes, father of the illustious jurist, made areport on Mary William senior's wife, in which he intimated that her complaints were "in the mind" (my words). He knew nothing,some 120 years ago, about the fact that the mind is responsible for the onset of many illnesses and in fact she was most probably genuinely due to stress.
