Hi,Barb, When I wrote to NS Archives they refered me to the N.S. land Registry office. If you go to my site.( see below), and click on "Archives, Records and Deeds" and follow Canada-Nova Scotia links you will see a link to the NS Archives. I did all this about 3 years ago and had forgotten that they had a "Land Grant On-Line" index Anyway I have no doubt that a searh for "Public Archives of |Nova Scotia" and/or public "Archives of New Brunswick" will put you on the right path. It should be remembered that if your ancestor was one of those who went to what is now known as New Brunswick, shortly after the end of the REV. War and settled in St John or what is now known as New Brunswick, then their records of Land Grant applications will be found in Nova Scotian archives for N.B. had not been formed then and was part of Nova Scotia. This is what happened to me. Fortunately as I had written to the NB Archives they put me straight. I have just tried thr link to NS archives and the link is "Broken", (Something else for me to mend!). However just below it is the link to Ontario archives and a searchable Census index which shows 120 Chase entries if anyone may be interested. Hi Keith, ........... Tom and Lonnie, First, think I'll send this to the list in case anyone has anything else to add or possibly helps someone. After reading this, I went to the Chase website and I think it was under Archives and then Chase Histories/lines, I saw your line at the top. Quite a ways down is Stephen's (think it says Stephen of Cornwallis or something like that)......showing that he did get a land grant and so did Jethro , etc. Think this was by a Linda Chase. I have a letter sent to me by a fellow fr. the Library of Congress plus additional info. The letter was written by Stephen Chase in 1768 to his grandson Stephen Slade urging him to come there, etc. Of course, my Benjamin is listed as his son b. before Jethro and their sister, Susannah who m. Daniel Wood. Don't remember if her marriage is listed. I have the entire Benjamin line and also have found Susannah's line. Sus... is # 124, Benjamin # 125 and Jethro # 129. I guess the point is that shouldn't I have all this info on the site, especially Stephen's letter????? Being that there already is MY Stephen site, where would I put the info. On another site or what............and how would I do it........?????? I started transcribing the letter last nite and it is veryyy hard to make out some words. Did you happen to read my other 2 emails???? One lists children by a FOURTH wife that are not there. I sent this email to you, Lonnie, the Col. Stubs cause I know he ties into my Ben line somehow or at least has much knowledge of Ben's lst w. Elizabeth Durfee........stating that there are a ton of Durfees in Palmyra. I know this cause they would be 1/2 bros. & sis. of Benjamin. I'm descended fr. Ben's 2nd w. Meritable Thurston. Also sent it to Fred Chase as we have some of the same William line. Guess I'll send this to Lonnie again too. PS Hi Tom, think if you following this info, you will find what you need. Sure hope so! BTW, I live in Rochester, New York in answer to your question. Hello Barbara, I can put information about Stephen on my website if you wish. If you can scan the letter and email it to me, I can also help with the transcription - I have a lot of experience reading old letters and peculiar handwriting. Let me know if you would like me to help. Cheers, Jeffrey Chace http://www.chace.demon.nl On 9/21/06, barbara thompson <ace3399@msn.com> wrote: > > > Hi Keith, ...........
