    3. Hi,Derek and all the Group. To alter the files I have to alter the gedcom file that generates them.At the moment I cannot even access the place the gedcom is located. When I used to update the database I used to modify my copy of the gedcom and upload it using Telnet. (This is a system that allows commands to be issud to the Host computer). I then send the command, by Telnet, to reformulate the basic files that it needs to generate answers to queries. I can no longer have access to surnameweb's server to send commands only to update my current files. So I have a choice. I can delete it altogether or I can leave it as it is. I repeat I am reluctant to to just dump it for it is by a mile the best system for accessing genealogical data that I know of.as you can search it using place names as well as personal names. I could replace it with one of the other systems that generates all the files and then I upload or I could find a site that will allow me to run scripts but that costs money and I am reluctant to incur more expense on this. I will push surname web and see what I can do. I can also upload the database in another application and make a note on the existing one that up-dated information can be found on the new one Keith Hume, Bexleyheath,England CHASE/CHACE web page http://www.surnameweb.org/centers/c/chase/index.html ----- Original Message ----- From: "Derek Chase" <[email protected]> To: "KEITH HUME" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, November 14, 2002 2:03 AM Subject: Re: Chase database On Tue, 12 Nov 2002 10:58:24 -0000, you wrote: >The only other solution would be to delete it entirely which I am VERY >reluctant to do, for as you say it does include everything when compiling >the files from my gedcom. Can you delete only my files ? I also have made many corrections since I began and much of my data is out of date. I could always upload a new Gedcom to you without the offending notes and comments..
