    3. Keith, Your post is most timely! Since listing my information, I have received two e-mails from a member of this group chastising me for daring to list Aquila and beyond. E-Mail #1 "Just for the sake of maintaining correct records, you need to be aware that this link has absolutely no factual basis, that is, there are no records in England or the US that in any way even suggest that it might be true. We know (factually by a court document) only that the American Aquila was "about 44 years of age" in 1662, which makes his year of birth around 1618. There is absolutely nothing that documents (or even hints) where he was born, or whom his parents might be. Anything that you have read anywhere that states or suggests anything else is nothing more than pure, unsupported, speculation at best. This lack of factual information about the origin and ancestry of the brothers Aquila and Thomas is well explored on the CHASE web site." Okay, I took this in stride - obviously the writer has little else to do than to reiterate what we already know. I acknowledged receipt of his e-mail by posting the following in my next e-mail to the group: "I thought I made it clear that much of my information was UNDOCUMENTED. Everyone on the list should be quite aware already of the AQUILA QUESTION." E-mail #2 was just down right rude and arrogant: "It just seemed a bit curious that you would publicly perpetuate this alleged linkage (even -- or especially -- with the weak disclaimer that "some information is undocumented") when said linkage has been categorized by serious Chase genealogist investigators as being totally without merit." First of all, regarding my "weak disclaimer" - if you are going to quote me - get it right. My actual statement was "MUCH IS UNDOCUMENTED" Second, in regards to my publicly perpetuating this alleged linkage - it's not like I jumped on top of the Empire State building and screamed it out to the world. I was simply sharing the information that I had been given with the others on the list. It is up to each individual to sort out what they believe to be fact or fiction. It was shared with the spirit of helping others who just might pick up a clue as to where they could track their own ancestors. In the first e-mail the writer suggests that nothing can be believed as fact unless there is a court document to back it up. How many people believe that Adam and Eve were the parents of Cain and Able? There is NO COURT DOCUMENTATION to prove this, yet we accept it as fact because we read about it in the Bible - a book written by men long ago. Isn't SEVEN GENERATIONS sort of like our Bible or guide to the Chase history? I am not yet privileged enough to own a copy of the book, but I highly doubt that the authors took the time and/or the space to publish all the court documents that back up their information - and to tell the truth - there probably were not a lot of documents that could prove their early information. We all just give them the benefit of the doubt that they knew what they were talking about and use the book as a guide. Incidentally, the book that my information came from was published in 1913 - a full 15 years before SEVEN GENERATIONS. From e-mail #2 - "said linkage has been categorized by serious Chase genealogist investigators as being totally without merit." Does this mean that anyone who believes there could be a connection, that just has not been proven yet, is NOT a serious genealogist??? Have these "serious" genealogists found proof that this "said linkage" is NOT true??? Do these "serious" genealogists also scoff at the Bible with all It's "begets"??? I'm NOT here pushing religion, but any serious genealogist knows that for centuries, the Bible has been used as "fact" to generate the ancestral charts of European noble persons and I have yet to see one "document" that backs up the "begets". Some of these "serious" genealogists need to start "thinking outside the bun"!!!!! I would think they would welcome any little scrap of information they could get that might provide clues to our CHASE origins. TRUTH to me is REALITY and the reality of the situation is that it does not really matter one hill of beans how we all got to be here. There are no fortunes left to claim that would change our lives in any drastic way. I'll probably step on some toes here - but maybe some genealogists should NOT be so serious. Researching our ancestry should be a labor of love, an enjoyment and a pleasure. I'm sure one of it's biggest draws is because it is a modern day "treasure hunt". As much as I love my computer, I believe that the Industrial Revolution has ruined modern man. There is no wilderness left to explore - space has been conquered. Yet, in our hearts is the desire to be adventurous and live one the edge. We can do this to some degree by digging up our ancestors and reading what ever information is available about the risks they took, the adventures they had and the worlds they conquered. The TRUTH today, is that what matters most, is HOW we live the life we were given. I hate to see anyone so stuck in the past that they have forgotten how to live in and enjoy the present moment. This forum offers the opportunity to meet and share information with people that share our past heritage and the TRUTH is that no one on this list deserves to be chastised or belittled for anything they have to share with the group, even if one of it's members thinks he knows more than anybody else or thinks that he is more serious about his quest for knowledge. By the way, Cousin Dick, your e-mail address has been put on my "block sender" list. Any further attempts to chastise, humiliate or put me down for sharing information with this group will have to be done in public.
