All, If William Chace came from Wivenhoe to America in 1630 and brought a Wife and an eight year old child with him, William was probably born around 1600 give or take a few years. That much, we already know, right? OK, Benjamin Chace could very well have been his father. And, Helen Harvy/vey his mother. The dates fit. But, have we all taken a very good look at the Boyd's Marriage records for Wivenhoe at that time? And have we eliminated each Chace/Chase family listed as being neither parents nor grandparents? Here are the marriages from Wivenhoe around that time. 1566 Chase John & Jone Jackson 1577 Chase John & Elizabeth Dennis 1580 Chase John & Rose Warren 1586 Chase John & Sarah Besabe 1591 Chase Benjamin & Helen Harvy 1600 Chase John & Elizabeth Puckle Have we ties between these families from other records? Look at the Essex Wills I have at my website. There is a Joan Chase, John Chace and there is a Richard Chase of Ardleigh (1574 Chase Richard & Cible Richardson, in Boyd's) whose will list a William as his son. We should really put a good family tree together with what we DO know of the Chace/Chases of Essex. Visual Thinking.
