    1. [CHASE-L] Abraham CHASE (a new one)
    2. D.C.
    3. Hello all.. Abraham appears magically in New Brunswick, in the Northeast/French-speaking area, in time for the 1861 census...I have spoken to his descendants... Apparently he served on a British lumber -transport ship...was abused...and jumped off in Richibucto...he was found lying under the verendah of a house (according to one story) by a French family who took him in and raised him as their own ...He grew up hating the English, speaking French, was ROman Catholic, unlike most other Chases...and his farm exists to this day in Adamsville, Kent Co., outside Moncton (Monkton) NB The other story is a RC priest took him in, took him into the faith (in Buctouche) then placed him with a French/Acadienne family.. BUT I don't think he came from this side the Atlantic ....... (note , this line of CHases is RC to this day, whereas all other lines in NB are FW Baptist or Anabaptist, or Baptist. There are some C of E, there is one "Methodist" family.so this is quite an anomoly given the Quaker beginnings or many of them) Anyway......born abt 1795 ?? in England ?? anyone ?????
