I agree with Rex. It is painful to see someone clarify an issue with good source material only to see someone else, without knowledge of the material, start the disproven claims all over again. Maybe a corner to argue the issues would serve better. Here is a quote from one of many Chase comments I found at http://www.genforum.com/chase They have had a lot of discussion around this issue. This message was posted by Stan Cowan on April 13, 1998. He may exaggerate about something called "clear proof", but this is what he said: "I keep seeing new messages appearing in this Forum citing the old data (which I believe dates back to the 19th century) that show Aquila and Thomas Chase of Newbury, MA, to be sons of Aquila Chase of Chesham, England, whose ancestry is traced back to the 15th century. There are also several messages appearing in this Forum clearly stating that this old claim is INCORRECT. The Aquila Chase of Chesham did have a son named Aquila, but "Seven Generations of the Descendants of Aquila and Thomas Chase," which was published more than 60 years ago, reports that there is clear proof that this son DIED AND WAS BURIED IN ENGLAND, and never emigrated to America." Also, as a FTM user, I do think that many of the published trees are just re-do's of previously published trees without sources or evidence. However, the FTM site has a new service that I love. They now have on line the full text of more than 500 genealogical texts. They add a few every day. Right now, they are heavy on Indiana sources, but they have some from all over. Among them is "Some of the Descendants of William Chase" compiled by George Walter Chamberlain for John Carrol Chase. The texts are mostly full length and fully searchable. I paid the $39 a year to join their library and immediately found some wonderful material on my Meason/Mason line. Since you have to pay to get access, the FTM library doesn't meet Kieth's needs. But it is really a promising site for source material.
