I have had a talk with the College of Arms in London. They will no longer confirm that a Coat of Arms in the name of CHASE/CHASE/CHACE exists. It was explained to me that the reason is that records are neither computerised nor on the site. The scale of costs for the service of establishing whether or not such a Crest exists varies from $100 to $200 dollars. For the latter service, I understand you get not only any Crest details but also a PEDIGREE of all known variants. I will be receiving full writen details of the Service offered and will scan and copy to the Group. If you do not have a facility for looking at graphic .gif files I could send a transcript. I cannot afford to foot the bill myself but I would be interested in knowing if any of you would be prepared to contribute. I would certainly contribute $20 myself as I believe this needs resolving. To allay any fears anyone may have as to the disposition of any monies collected for this purpose I would suggest that if we do go ahead someone in the US collect any pledges as sending me various amounts of dollars would not be a good idea. PLEASE DO NOT SEND OR MAKE "PLEDGES" UNTIL I RECEIVE THE LETTER FROM THE COLLEGE OF ARMS AND YOU ALL HAVE A COPY. Keith Hume
