The name AQUILA was derived from 2 early Christians but as sources seem to be in conflict it is posible they were one and the same. The literal meaning was "Eagle" 1) Aquila of Sinop in Pontus,(Sinop,Turkey) was known for his accurate translation of the Old testament Bible into Greek(c140 AD). Legend has it he was a kinsman of Emperor Hadrian best known for his wall,(still preserved today,) seperating Engalnd and Scotland. I have more on this Aquila 2)Thia Aquila is reported as a Jew from Rome who lived in Corinth in the 1st Century AD.
