I do point out in my preamble that ALL information in the database should be checked and that there is no guarantee of validity of the info. I do not want to "sever" this link but it might be a good idea to add a note to the American Aquilla that no proof of parenthood has been evidenced. I am all too well aware that there are those that will ignore this but I will maintain that without such unsubstantiated information I for one would never have found my CHASE links which are now prooved, or as much prooved as one could reasonably expect. >> Hi Keith, To sever or not to sever. I believe it may be appropriate to sever the linkage between the English Aquila and American Aquila until such time as it is proved. Right now there is evidence that the English Aquila and his son Aquila are tucked away in a cemetery or church in England, and that the American Aquila is most unlikely to have been his son. Also, I think to maintain the linkage serves to continue the wishful thinking of many who simply accept the connection based on some genealogy program like Family Tree and who would never bother to read the notes. In order to save the possible (but unlikely) linkage, perhaps a note can be placed in the American and English Aquila regarding the controversy as a red alert. Also, perhaps some other relationship one day can be established...uncle, etc. For example, my own ancestors can only be traced back to 1819 in New York and I think I have some reason to believe they came out of William Chase of the Winthrop Fleet but I am not going to skip one generation, labeling it as "unknown", and then pick up and go on back to William. Something like this would only create misunderstandings. Rex Gilman Chase
