I, too, am a descendant of William Chase, Jr. and his second wife. I at first was told that Abraham was a son by his first wife, and she was believed to be Abigail Hale, but I have been unable to find any information about her or her family. Recently I have received information from the book on Some of the Descendants of William Chase of Yarmouth, and the book shows the following: "William Chase, Jr. of Yarmouth, born in England as early as 1627, died at Yarmouth Feb 27, 1684-5. He married first abt 1644 ________and secondly ___________It has been said that he had four children by each wife and that his second wife was Elizabeth Holder. One Christopher Holder of Olveston Co., Gloucester, England came to Boston in 1656, but since he espoused the views of the Quakers, he was banished in 1659 and fled to Newport, RI. He married August 12, 1660 to Mary Scott. Among his 9 children born at Newport was Elizabeth Holder, born January 4, 1664-5, who, when William Chase died would have been barely 20 yrs old. As it has been claimed that the four youngest children of William were born of his second wife, as as the eldest of these four children sold land in Harwich in 1695 and therefore must have been born as early as 1674, when Elizabeth Holder was only about 10 yrs of age, it is impossible for her to have been the second wife of William Chase. No other Holder family has been found in New England before 1700." My records show that the first wife had William, 111, Jacob, John and Elizabeth, and the second wife had Joseph, Abraham, Samuel and Benjamin. I am descended from Abraham, and am still wondering who his mother was. However, I don't believe that Elizabeth Holder could have been the mother of either set of children. If William was born abt 1627 and Elizabeth Holder was born 1664-5, thats 35 yrs difference. I'm still searching, maybe someone can find something to fill in the blanks. Keep searching--- Holly M.
