The name Aquila is not totally unique to the Chase family. Around the same time that Aquila Chase emigrated from parts unknown in England, Aquila Purchase emigrated from Charlton Mackrell, Somerset. An uncanny similarity of surnames, eh? Equally uncanny was their choice of wives: Aquila Chase was married to Anne (Wheeler) -- Aquila Purchase was married to Ann (Squire). In my early days of research, and being frustrated by not discovering Aquila Chases's parents, I began to wonder if our Aquila had, in fact, once been a Purchase & simply dropped the first syllable of his surname. Sanity prevailed, however, and I decided not to go there! Ann Squire, BTW, was a sister of Edith Squire, the wife of Braintree's Henry Adams. Ted (in California, which is just west of 'dusty' Arizona)
