    1. Re: [CHASE-L] Dartmouth, MA
    2. Dear Elizabeth, I'm jumping up and down with excitement. After receiving your nice note I was reminded of my contacts with another Berkley Chase/Hathaway descendant I used to have communication with when I was mapping out our cousin visit about 1991. Blanche Trzcinski at 725 Berkley is her name or was her name. Tel. # 1-508-824-5367. She is a Shreve descendant---He was also connected to the Chases---a MInister---Harvard graduate---lots of interesting history with that family too. She was absolutely loaded with information on all of the connecting lines to the Hathaways and Chases. She lived in a Hathaway house there too. As I recall she was not well at all and partly blind I think ---so she may not be around any longer unfortunately, but it's worth a try. She was the one who talked for hours about our connection to the Tew family and how they were Privateers and (Pirates) and real characters. She was going to conduct a tour for us in Freetown but became ill so we lost out on that wonderful opportunity. By the way---if Phyllis Silva is still around and you are interested---she is a good person to locate in Pawtucket as she was historian and archivist in R.I. at the Capitol for the Governor. She ran off reems of copies for me at the time and then 2 years later she conducted a tour for us. I even was invited to her home where she had her entire basement filled from floor to ceiling with records on the old families in R.I..---including our Shermans. At the time she said she would move ---oh my---I think it was Arizona---could it possibly be? (I had no idea at the time I would EVER move here, but we moved here for my husbnad's health---and it has indeed been much better.)--Back on track--- But then---there is a Sherman group---on Internet and---very sophisticated too. Keith has had lots of contact with them and can certainly be wonderful help too. They are far more informed than I about all of that family, however I still have mounds on their Butter connection that I need to put together and share. The Shermans had so many famous people connected to them that it is really quite easy to research them. Am I moving onward to too many of your lines for you? You see we are cousins way back of course. As you can tell---I am quite hooked on the hobby. I am terribly impressed with the fact that you are the selectman---woman for Berkley. Please share with this group what you can about this interesting town and what you do to make it better. We are really so interested in learning all we can about it. How do your names look in the phone book? What historic houses can you find that show our lines? Oh, you are indeed a very lucky person to live there. Your Le Vaughn name is not familiar to me. I don't think I have run across this interesting French ? name. Perhaps the LDS Family History Library can help you. Also, your own Berkley Library or the Sturgis Library can help out. Freetown has a fine Historic Society too with many fine collections on your Hathaway, Chase/ce lines. (I sent them my book on the Chases last year). Well, Elizabeth, do you see how excited you have made me? We finally have someone in our ROOTS area who can be a good link for us. Don't go away. Ginger in Az.
