Thank you Lonnie, Harriet and Jackson. I will forward this info to the interested party, Jane Devlin. Now all she needs is Sybil and Abner's children to make the connection into this whole branch of the William Chase line! Based on the following from Arnold's Vital Records of Rehoboth (from LDS IGI record), looks like Abner Anthony, and perhaps Sybil, moved to Rehoboth by 1777, after the birth of their first two children in Swansea in 1760 & 1762. It is possible that the following Abner may be a child of Abner and Sybil's born later in life (17 years of childbearing is still well within normal bounds, if she lived that long!), or he could be from a second marriage of Abner's. Wonder how old your Sibbel or Lilebell ANTHONY was who married Asa SMITH of Dighton, 4 Sep 1793? If 17-18, she could have been a slightly older sister of this Abner! The LDS didn't have any other siblings listed in Rehoboth, though ... I'm interested in whether they may have had a daughter or a granddaughter named Sybil, Sibbel, or Lilebell. I've been searching for the family of Sibbel or Lilebell ANTHONY who married Asa SMITH of Dighton, 4 Sep 1793, [Rehoboth Vital Records, Search & Research CD] and recently received the clue that she may have been the daughter of Abner & Sybil [CHASE] ANTHONY. I've checked the Search & Research Bristol Co. CD, but only a surname index of the Swansea records is included. I could find no mention of Abner ANTHONY in the archives for this mailing list or in the Rootsweb ANTHONY surname message board. There were several occurrences of Anthony & Sybil in the World Connect family trees, but only one, Jim Bullock's, gave any children - two sons Reuben & Asa. The one mention in Vol 87, a genealogy of the CHASE family, is the only reference to Abner ANTHONY in the Register and it does not follow the family to later generations. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jane Devlin Lake Orion, MI [email protected] Records from CT, MA, & MI + family lines: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jdevlin/
