While researching my Rose line in the 1880 Wayne County, NC census I found a Burket Rose in the Nahunta Township in household 316 and Ruffin Rose in Nahunta Township in household 317. Ruffin Rose was in the household with some others with the last name of Chase. One of the Chase womens occupation was listed as a prostitute. It list daughters for Ruffin and for the Chase woman but list no wife for him or husband for her. Was this comman to list such a thing or am I reading this wrong or what? Anyway I cannot find these Rose men in earlier census records and was wondering if anyone may have any information on them as to where they were before then.
