All, I have been,(on and off) a subscriber to this list for some years now. I must comment that I have never had such a response to my query re maps of Philadelphia about 1775. Yjw response has been so great that even with my newly installed Broadband I have spent all afternoon here in the UK gathering maps. Apart from 3 of you pointing me to what appears to be the ideal map,(zoomable and all that). in the process i have gathered 30 maps refering to the campaigns his unit was involved in in the Revolutionary War !! I would also like to acknowlege the fact that so many of you have pointed out that the correct term is Revolutionary and not Independence. This is just another illustration of one of your previous President's comment that "We, (US and UK), are 2 nations separated by a Common language"...or words to that effect. As far as possible I have always referred to that war as the War of Independence when talking or writing to you folks " over there ". This was in the mistaken belief that you would have been prefered to be called fighters for Independence than Revolutionaries. I suppose ir may have been because our own revolution was found, in part, to be a disaster and when Cromwell died the country happily reverted back to a Monarchy but I am not sure. One other point. Over the years there have been various discussins about people replying to specific questions and copying to the CHASE-L list. For some reason that escapes me there were/are? those opposed to this practice. The delete key gets rid of "unwanted" info. in a trice. I raise this point because the wealth of information I received today was the kind of thing I am sure many people on this list would have liked. Certainly, with permission of those who sent the information to me, I intend to add it to the archives section of the Chase web site, Thank you all, Keith Hume
