Hi,Rex, I agree with you although I must admit that I have , from time to time, probably transgressed the bounds of the proper purposes of this Group. Lisa, if you read this it might be useful if Rootsweb have an official definition. I will try to be more careful in future but I am sure you will agree that it is not always easy to mark boundaries when talking of genealogy or as I prefer to call it, with regard to this group, Family Research. The whole thing becomes more difficult when account is taken of the fact that many of us have been subscribers to this list for some years and although we have not always seen each other " eye to eye " nevertheless I now look upon many as at the least friends and sometimes as " cousins" in both the literal and vernacular sense. So it is sometimes all to easy to forget the basic functions of the Group. Thankfully we have an administrator who appears to recognise the "family" atmosphere that has developed here and consequently allowed us som free rein. We should be careful not to abuse it and in this regard I feel that at least one of the latest messages has exceeded those bounds by a long way. Now having got that off my chest how about more of you saying how you feel about the functions of the Group? I would appreciate one of the more experienced Genealogists to write a few words about the differences between Genealogy and Family Research. For me the differences are fundamental but I would like others views? Are you a Genealogist or a Family History Researcher?
