Can anyone add anything to this. Not sure but believe the source is; SEARCH FOR PASSENGERS OF THE JOHN AND MARY 1630 Vol 22 Pt 4 Aquila Chase 1618-1670 of Newbury, MA and Thomas Chase of Hampton,New Hampshire.. "Savage (1:364) says he was a mariner from Cornwall and he was in Hampton, NH 1640, brother of Thomas. Maine (p138)says he came to Hampton, NH in 1639 and he and his brother "coasted" between Boston and Newbury. The Chase English Ancestry has not been found despite extensive searching in England in the past. In 1846 there was a widely circulated story about a large fortune in England belonging to the Chase heirs in America. In that year a meeting was held in Newburyyport, MA.,attended by 1,500 people, and they collected a large sum of money to pursue the fortune, but it ended up to be a fraud. There have been claims that Aquila and Thomas Chase were sons of Aquila Chase, bpt 7 Aug. 1580, Chesham, Bucks. This family is well documented back to 1520 in Chesham in SEVEN GENERATIONS OF THE DESCENDANTS OF AQUILA AND THOMAS CHASE, by John Carroll Chase and George Walter Chamberlain, 1928, but this ancestry does connect to the early planters. A later book, CHASE-SEELY FAMILY, by Mary Henrietta Chase, 1962, published this erroneous ancestry."
