    2. Re the Aquila land grant, it actually was from the town of Newbury (now Newburyport), rather than the Colony (which would have been the Mass. Bay Colony). John Carroll Chase quotes a description of the grant from the Newbury town records of 1646, but gives no explicit citation. The location of the house lot is apparently contained in a record made when Aquila sold the land several years later. (It was on the Merrimac River water front at the corner of what is now Federal St. and Water St. in Newburyport.) Again, there is no cited reference for that information, but given John Carroll Chase's deserved reputation as an absolute stickler for accuracy, I believe that it can be safely assumed that he obtained the information from a reliable record.
