My great grandmother was Mabel Julia Chase b. Sept 16 1879 in Minn. She died July 25 1970 in Pa. Her father was Francis Truman Chase b. Sept 28 1833 in NY and died Apr. 23 1918 in Minn. He md. Jan 15 1863 in Minn. to Julia Ann Moreland. I have Francis' line for certain back to his father John b. 1795 Mass. and his father Berry b. 1742 Mass. and his father Richard b. 1714 Mass. and his father was presumably a Thomas b. unknown md. to a Sarah Gowell. Is this familiar to any one on this site? My great grandmother said when she was young her family hired lawyers to tie them into some Chase fortune that had been uninheireted but apparently they weren't successful. Would like to see the work those lawyers did and the info they dug up! The story goes that Gr Gram said they were related but couldn't prove it?? Probably wishful thinking on her families part!!
