Am I right in thinking that her connections are all on the female Chase line as I understand that is the only way this test can be relevant. Also about 18 months ago I was looking at some articles on DNA testing and read that from 6 generations back , using the "male" test you could not rely on the data due to minor mutations. Do you or anyone on the list know anything about this? Keith, yes the mtDNA test only covers the maternal side of the family and it has nothing to do with the results we have so far on the Chase males who have taken the test. On your second question, while you can have mutations pop up randomly, the 6 generations certainly was not a factor on the descendants of Aquila and William Chase. In DNA testing a generation is considered about 20 years--to go back to William or Aquila where the results have been very consistent you go back about 375 years. It's amazing to me how the results are so close for the test takers in each of these lines. This is not an exact science--but it's a good tool to help prove your research. Charlie Scott
