I have yet to see any genealogy of William of Yarmouth and Roxbury however, that takes into account the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick families. None that I have seen, including JC Chase's does anything other than a marginal treatment of them. Mostly Loyalists, they split for Canada some time after 1776, most about 1783....... I am shocked to hear that some people do not wish to share knowledge gained because they worked so hard for it. I'll bet these same people have gladly used info that others worked so hard for. How petty. But then it takes all kinds. For the rest of you diggers into the roots of our families, roses and halos to all. P. Chase Marchbanks
Dear Chase chasers, I have to agree with Derek. I can find very little information what-so-ever on William's descendants who emigrated to Canada. My line runs from William(1), William (2), John, Isaac, Isaac (who moved to Dutchess County, NY), to Reuben, who fled from Dutchess County, NY to Gagetown, New Brunswick, and received a land grant. I have never EVER seen any line of Williams that goes past William, William, John, Isaac(1). Isaac(2) and Reuben, and Reuben's daughter, Charlotte are not covered in any genealogy I have ever seen. I would love to see some information on the Canadian descendants of William Chase of Roxbury / Yarmouth. Warmest Regards, Lisa Zajkowski
Hi Andrew, Just a small though in relation to what you wrote concerning sharing information. If you think about it, every single bit of information you have on anyone that is not living, you have because SOMEONE ELSE wrote it down, passed it on, rewrote it, retyped it, published it and SHARED IT. I have never met such caring, sharing people as the genealogists. I have had hefty files sent to me snail mail and not one person ever asked for postage or copy expenses. It is too bad one to two.....well you know! Ginny Core
I agree that most people involved in genealogy do share. That is why I was amazed that people, who by the way have never spoken up on the list, were sending me notes stating that they had 30,000 descendents of William CHASE but were not willing to send me the GEDCOM. Most people were kind and/or helpful. The reason I dropped the project was not because people will not share, but because the project has already been "completed" by atleast 5 others. There are many other projects to work on as we all know. Thanks Andrew Bond
Well after reviewing the mail over the last week I have decided to drop the William CHASE project. It seems that many people have begun the exact same project and have huge databases chock full of the descendents of William CHASE. Not only has it been done, but a number of people told me that they do not want to share their information because they have worked so hard!? What is the point of these lists if not to share all of our pertinent information with eachother? Also, I received a message from an author who had just finished a 800 page book on the descendents of William CHASE and had sent a copy to the NEHGS. The author graciously told me that I may use any of the information in her book, which I very much appreciate. At this point I don't see repeating what has already been done and is being done. Instead, I will start a different project focusing on Swansea, MA families in the 1790 census. Thank you everyone. Andrew Bond
Can anyone help find a marriage record for Sarah CHASE to William Wingate ca 1800-1804, probably Maryland? Their first child, Rebecca, was born in Queen Anne's County, Maryland in 1805. On the 1850 census (KY) Rebecca stated that her birthplace was Maryland and William stated that his birthplace was Delaware. Thanks, Suzanne Russell auntsue@twlakes.net

Hi everyone, James P. Chase, Loyalist, son of George (Capt) of Ansonnet, had a wife. He name was Elizabeth "Betty" Douglas...it is also possible she had some connection, perhaps as a lady in waiting to the queen (?)...There is a Briggs/Baker family letter which touches upon this in the Briggs file at the SJRL...... Does anyone know about this Elizabeth Betty Douglas or Douglass ? (She marr. James P. 15 Jan 1766 in Freetown MA) Thanks Derek Chase Saint John
