To Carol and all, I was wondering, are we exploring Chase/Wixon unions? If so I have a couple. I am descended from William Chase's line (William, William, John, Thomas, Joseph and Abner, Lot and Lydia, Lot, Freeman, Elias, Jesse, Lydia (my mother)). My ggrandfather Elias's brother Freeman Davis Chase (1839-1938) had a son Herbert W. Chase b. 1873, who married a Lydia Wixon, b. 1874. Their stone is in Swan Lake Cemetery in Dennis Port, MA. Also my grandfather Jesse's sister Minnie Chase, b. 1870, married a Walter Wixon, b. 1867. They are also buried in Swan Lake Cem. My mother, son and I will be exploring this cemetery in June and snapping tombstone pictures. I hope to find many old Chase ancestors there. CHASE, Landon Carter was born in Tennessee (we beleive) c1840. He died before 1920 because he is not on the census. He married Edith _?_ b. 1841 Tennessee. They had a daughter named Mary b. 1870 in Tennessee and died c1920 in Hill County, Texas. Info from the 1920 census for Hill County Texas is as follows: FARMER, Joshua age 55 (b.1865) Texas occupation: machinist at cotton gin parents born in Tennessee " , Mary (wife) age 50 (b.1870) Tennessee parents born in Tennessee Curtis, Paul (son-in-law) age 20 (b.1900) Texas occupation: laborer at cotton gin " , Edith (daughter) age 23 (b.1897) Texas CHASE, Edith (mother-in-law) age 79 born (1841) in Tennessee; parents born in Tennessee I assume Landon Carter Chase has died and Edith is living in the home of her daughter Mary. Mary died shortly after the census was taken. I am currently trying to find out which cemetery these people are buried in and get some dates of death for them. I have very limited information and resourses to help me find out more about these people. Any help would be appreciated. Kate

Family lore believe that he was from Rochester, MA, or that vicinity. He was born in 1802 or 1806 and died 11 October 1858. His wife's name was Chloe P. Since others seem to be having such good luck making connections, I wonder if anyone has any info at all on Sam Houston Chase, a carpenter who died in a fall from a roof in 1874 in McNairy Co TN. I have been unable to find any information of any kind about him. His wife, Anne Deaton, apparently knew little about his antecedents, where he came from, etc. and never met his family. They had one child, my grandfather, Lem Houston Chase, b. February 29 1874. He was supposedly 5 months old when his father was killed. The mother later remarried and the family ended up in Alcorn Co MS. On the 1880 McNairy Co census Anne is back with her parents with her young son, and the census states the child's father was born in Tennessee. The 1910 Alcorn Co census states he was born in NC - so there you go! I have been up against this stone wall for 20 years and would be eternally grateful for ANY kind of help. Thanks much, Nelda

Hi, I have been searching my CHASE families for a long time until I get your Burdette CHASE. Burdette L CHASE was born abt 1873 /1875 in Ashtabula, Ohio. He married 29 Mar 1898 to Lena/Lura RUNYAN in New London, Ohio. His parents were William H.CHASE and Sarah M. GRANT William H. CHASE was a first son of John W. CHASE and Emeline WATERS ( my great-great- great grandparent) and had eight children. He was born 17 Sep 1850 in Amcran, Columbia, New York and married 1 Feb 1872 in Painesville, Lake, Ohio to Sarah M GRANT and remarried 16 May 1903 to Emma POMEROY and died 17 Sep 1914 in Gorham, Fulton, Ohio. Had two sons: Burdette L was born abt 1875 in Ashtabula, Ohio Guy C CHASE was born Oct 1880 in Ashtabula, Ohio and married to Elsie BELL.... had three sons; 1) Lawrence H CHASE was born 1908 in Franklin, Columbus, Ohio 2) Harold G CHASE was born in 1909 in same birthplace 3) Vaughin CHASE was born in 1911 I did not have their informations. Hi, Chasers, I am new to the list, but a long time Chase researcher. I am wondering if anyone on the list has information on the death on Eli Chase, b 25 Aug 1785, Dutchess Co., NY, d 27 Jun 1828, "killed at the Galena Lead Mines, Jo Davies Co., IL. I have never veen able to find the facts of his death, whether it was an Indian rail, a mine accident or what. Even though the family lived in Fulton Co., IL I have found records of the farmers going to the Galina area in the off season.
