    3. Hi, Has anyone out there ever heard of brothers, John, Seth, and Thomas Chase ? My father used to say that we came down the line from a family of three brothers that came over to America from England. Could this be the Thomas line or Aquilla line ? Hope there's someone out there that might have some info. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. My address: rethactd @ aol.com

    3. A search of the 1928 Decendants of Thomas and Aquila Chase does not show any appropriate listing for a Charles D. Chase so from that, at least, it does not appear that he is from either of those lineages. (Looking through the book for an E. D. Chase would take considerable time since there are a lot of listings in the index for CHASE first names beginning with E . Also, since the son is not listed, I have doubts that the father is in this line -- and he would be difficult to identify in this documenttation even if he is...) I'll poke around as the opportunity permits. Dick Chase

    3. Hello Chase seekers..... In 1884 there was a shipwreck as appended from newspaper of the time below. DOes anyone know these Chases ????Nov 9-1884 Miramichi is a river in New Brunswick that empties into Northumberland Strait near Prince Edward Island....Bathurst is about 60 miles north of Chatham... If the Vigilant was sailing for Boston, Capt E.D. Chase and son Charles might have been Yarmouth or Roxbury Chases......or Newberry if they're Aquila's line... here 'tis thanks Derek 2865 Wreck of the "Vigilant" at Miramichi - Chatham, Nov. 9 - The storm of Wednesday last was more severe along the coast of northern N.B. than at first realized and the news of the saddest casualty yet reported reached Chatham on Saturday forenoon, followed that eve. by the arrival of the survivors of the crew of barquentine "Vigilant", of and from Bathurst, laden with laths for Boston and now a total wreck at Tabusintac on the north side of Miramichi bay. ... the third or fourth sea sweeping the deckload and carrying off nearly everyone on board. All but Wm ROBINSON, coloured, of Barbadoes, cook, regained the vessel. ... On his way, Capt. CHASE became entangled in the wreckage and being nearly exhausted, cried out that he was afraid he was gone, when his son, Charles D. CHASE left the forward house and made for him, only at once to sink in the darkness and angry sea. Finally Capt. Chase extricated himself ... About sunrise, Daniel McKENDY of Douglastown, who had taken passage as an extra hand, died from exposure. The saved are Capt. E.D. CHASE; Michael DALEY, Bathurst (Glouc. Co) first mate; Robert FLEMING, Bathurst, second mate; Kenneth McLELLAN, Chatham and a Portugese sailor. 10 November 1884 D.T.

    3. ALL, 1) I have written an article re CHASE name. Click on "Meaning and Origins .." on the opening page of the Chase site. 2) At the moment I have found a " bug" in the "CHASE/CHACE Researchers.." section. This will be fixed shortly. I found the "Bio" page cumbersome in that it took so long to fill in "on line" that I was "Timed-Out" by my Internet provider. I am told the cure will be to download a copy of the page, fill it in "off line" then " Submit" the next time you log onto the site. 3) I would like you to let me know your favourite WWW sites, for your family research, to add to the site. I know of some sites that are V.Big but often much is missed. Note this Database contains Chase/Chace descendants+spouses and their parents(if known). I am working on the logistics of haveing the families of spouses included in a seperate section. Please give me some "feed-back". DO add your Links! I am in the process of setting up another database to seperate the Chasham Chase line into. All the statistics relating to the Database can be accessed:- Search facility Total number of names Number of people with each surname (800+ Chase) Ability to "Link" (See the first William Chase for an example) Descendant Charts (Some are BIG !) Pedigree Charts. "Log In" Record There are still some people to be added from small family trees that have been sent to me so please bear with me. ALL, I apologise as I sent the following to the wrong address-somehow! ************************************************ All, I am now informed that the Scripts to run the CHASE DBASE have now been set up at the CHASE www site. Will all those intending to contribute their CHASE?CHACE gedcoms please send to me as soon as possible that I can start the tricky job of merging them. Please remember to compile the gedcom with the NOTES enabled so as to make it easier to addnotes as you may require to your whole database. Depending upon the size and amount of gedcoms received it may be possible to set up contributors full family gedcom as a seperate dbase linked to the CHASE dbase. Certainly DIRECT linking to other dbase if necessary on ANY site is possible so would all thase with their own WWW sites please let me known the addresses(URLs). This applies even if you do not wish to contribute to the CHASE dbase. A link will be made direct if from a common ancestor in the CHASE dbase. 3. Use the stamped number for documentation. The exception is 1860 census - check the introduction page to determine the page sequence as there are two or more different numbers per page. The 1860 pages have numbers written in rather than stamped. W. 3. Regarding the discussion of censuses, I have done considerable research with the missouri censuses (though I haven't used the Broderbund products at all...), and I have noticed that in many cases there are two apparent page numbers. One is a number that looks like it was made by a rubber stamp (I assume that this is the actual "page number" in the Big Book in which the census was recorded), and the other is always handwritten. Which of these page numbers is the proper one to cite when documenting the census as the source? An example of this is sort of as follows: 1880 Census Boone Township, Franklin County, Missouri Page No. 5 39 Supervisor's Dist. No. 3 Enumeration Dist. No. 68 { Handwritten on left } {Rubber Stamped} David J. Revelle 4409 Castleman #2W St. Louis, MO 63110 djr2@cec.wustl.edu

    3. Good morning, I just got some more data back from NARA. Has anyone ever had this happen to them, or is this another flaw in the Family Tree Maker CD's? According to the Family Finder Index and Census Cd's they show ancestor's located on page X and in town X. When I filled out the census forms for Nara I enclosed the ancestors name, age, town located in, county, state and page number on the census. NARA sent the forms (4) back and stated there was no data on those pages for the ancestor in question to recheck the source. This data was from three different cd's. Has this happened to you? Thank you, Remember "The Truth Is Out There" Proper citation is essential to a credible genealogy. ================ Jack & Addie MAILTO:searchn@gte.net Visit our Home Page, (this site supports midi music files so turn down your volume if you prefer to not hear music) (Our Home Page) http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/5978 Member of: General Joseph Warren Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/3361/ USGenWeb Project Counties: CO. 3. ALL, Please excuse my use of Capital Letters. I have been asked to expand on the following statemant made in my email of 28th of April:- "The objective is to create a CHASE database of people with CHASE blood and their spouses and parents of their spouses. If we were to include the complete families of spouses the database would be enormous and not what I believe we set out to do." Simply put I believe that if we were to make the database up to include families of those who married direct descendants of William,Aquilla & Thomas CHASE we would eventually show we are "related" to 100,000 people and that is being Very conservative. I have set up 2 Databases on my own WWW page at http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~khume/home.html PLEASE NOTE THIS ILLUSTRATION WOULD APPLY IF I WAS SETTING UP A HUME DATABASE but the same principle applies The first, "1) Hume family tree" has 1,795 names in it made up from the descendants of Sherman Hu(l)me and only includes direct Hume descendants, their spouses and the parents of their spouses. It includes 2 CHASE family only, the wife,Sarah Chase, of Peter Hume and her father, James P. Chase. The second 2) Ancestors,(and their families) of Keith Hume is the complete database I extracted the first database from.It has 3,746 and 750+ named CHASE It is my proposal that we concentrate on the Direct Descendants and spouses Remember that a DIRECT LINK from any person in the data base can be added by the person looking at the information on the WWW. Go to http://www.surnameweb.org/centers/p/partridge/ and search for CHASE and add an appropriate link. There are some 40+ Chase names there. SEE IT WORK Some surprise has been exhibited at this but it is so and it works and future enquirers will see this link and on clicking on it be able to either directly email to the Linker or access their WWW site. The list of Links is added to the Parent Chase directory so the administrator can contact whoever has made it. Hence contact with all concerned is applied. I appreciate I may not have put this very well but have a look.
