Sorry folks...My e-mail address was scrambled.....If you had an asnwer for the following please send again . Derek Please forgive me if I have posted this question before, but I am interested in the genealogy of Samuel Chase, who was a judge, and a writer to newspapers of the day, and a signatory to the declaration of independence..... Also, the Chase-Manhatten Bank ? Apparently there was no Chase ..it was named after a government official, (who was a Chase) who ran the treasury department...I received a letter some time ago from the bank telling me this, but cannot now find it. We would like to build a data base of web sites of genealogical information that CHASE network members can use as an aid in identifying places to search for information on family members. (The final list will be available to all at the CHASE web site.) So, as an invaluable help to your fellow Chase family researchers, it would be much appreciated if you would send me the URL address (please double proof read for typos!) of "useful" sites that you have learned of and accessed, along with a very brief, but specific description of the kind(s) of data each contains. (No sites that are only archives, please.) Please don't dismiss sites simply because you might not have found the particular information that you were seeking. Include all that you feel have reasonable potential for others. Also include any comment about a site that might be helpful to first-time users of it. Please send your lists to me at this e-mail address (rachase@earthlink.net), with the subject designated as: Gen Sites. I will weed out duplicate sites and compile a single coordinated listing for posting on the Chase web site from your responses. So there is some identified time to do the compilation, may I have your lists by June 23 ? Thanks for your assistance, Dick Chase
Hi Debbie Axtman at "Debbie Axtman" <axtman@premier1.net> has kindly volunteered to gather together descriptions and Urls/Addresses for Group members own pages and convert to a WWW page for the CHASE site. I would be grateful if all of you who have WWW sites would send Debbie the Url and a description of the site in no more than 8 lines. NOTE Debbie has asked that for all those responding please use "CHASE Description " as the Subject. Do any of you 'Chasers' out there have a Charles H. Chase, born in Hopkinton, NH, around the 1840s. He later married Christiana FRAZER [second wife] born in Salisbury, NH. He had twin sons that I know of, Alberto and Albert born in the 1860s in Henniker, NH. Any VR or Town History info would be a huge help. Thanks. Bob Trenoweth Salem, Mass.
All, While deleting some entries from the Researcher File I did not appreciate that on re-loading to the Surnameweb site I had to reactivate the program, that automatically adds your listing, by issuing commands to the Host computer. It is working fine now but I would appreciate that all those who submitted their Research profiles after or on the 26th May please resubmit. I automatically receive copies of the info so it is not lost, but it did not show in the Researcher listing, Keith Keith Hume, email khume@netcomuk.co.uk CHASE-L Website at:- http://www.surnameweb.org/centers/c/chase/index.html http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~khume/home.html Kent,England Researching:- HULME,DAWSON,(In Lancs.) Hi,Molly, I do like to see encouragement. However there is a Correction- "Keith's Chase site is...." should read "Our Chase site is..." I cannot emphasise this too much. I know I set it up and manage it but I would be perfectly happy if someone else did it as long as it stays for any CHASE-L member, Keith Hume At 21:48 02/06/98 EDT, you wrote: >Cindy, >Please do not get discouraged. Dear Chase folks, I have a Robert Chase who was in the Revolutionary war, apparently from New York. A distant cousin of mine applied for a DAR admission on his service, and that is where I got this info. Anyways, Robert married Sarah Revelle, and they had a daughter named Sarah Chase. Anyways, apparently this family lived in North Carolina when Sarah Chase was born (~1774?-from 1850&1860 censuses), moved to Missouri before Robert died, and his daughter, Sarah, married Robert Desha. Many of their descendants later married members of the Revelle family which had separately settled in missouri. I am interested in any info about Robert Chase which could clear up some of the mystery about him, and which could especially give me some idea of who exactly Sarah revelle was, and how she relates to the revelles which her grandchildren married. Any info or research tips appreciated! David J. Revelle 4409 Castleman #2W St. Louis, MO 63110 djr2@cec.wustl.edu
Cindy, Please do not get discouraged. I have been chasing my Chases for over 20 years! Have you checked out the postings on the Chase Genforum? Also be sure to go to Keith Hume's web page. I have come across Benjamin Chase many times in these sites. Keith's Chase site is http://www.surnameweb.org/centers/c/chase/index.html Let me kow if you need the other site address. Molly Gardner
I have been getting this list for about a month, now and am a little discouraged because I have not seen much action from the Chace's out there. I do not have much information on my Chace line. I go back to Ernest Mason Chace, b. 8-22-1865 m. Lenora Pearl Huddleston. They had a son, Allan Mason Chace, b. 10-29-1905. I am looking for any information that anyone has on these people and their line, and am also curious if anyone knows or can tell me about Benjamin Chace, When he came to America, and his line. I learned that his name was changed from Chase to Chace do to a misspelling somewhere. Thanks for any information, Cindy Chace
Hello everybody - I'm looking for info on Andrew J., Minerva E.,Henry M., and Carolina F. Chase. All but Carolina were buried in Tama City, Iowa. Carolina married C. A. Varnum on Sept. 19, 1863. She died in Virginia in 1926. Any help appreciated. Dimple Perkins Turman
Hi, everyone. I'm new to the list, so please bear with me if I commit any errors in mailing list etiquette. I'm looking for info on CHASE in Iowa, Minnesota, and Canada. My grandmother's name was Charlotte CHASE Townley, b. 1896 in MN. Her father was Adrian Aquilla CHASE b. 1872, son of James Elijah CHASE b. 1818, son of Joseph Lapham CHASE. Joseph apparently lived in CT, as James was born in Kent, CT. James married Elizabeth Ann SPRAGUE in 1856 in IA, and died in Havolock(?) IA in 1895. His son Adrian was born in Poncahontas, IA, and died in Hewitt, MN in 1913. He married Lillian PERSONS in 1893. Some of the family moved to Canada in the early 1900s, and descendants are still living in Alberta and Saskatchawan (sp?) today. If any of this sounds familiar, I would appreciate hearing from distant relatives for the purpose of sharing info about this line. Thanks, Sue Derrick
To CHASE web site owners, Matt Chase has made a "link Button" that you can enter into your page by adding the code you can get from:- http://home.pacbell.net/mith/Buttons.html, Keith
I sent a e-mail to VReeder about the parchment she has that Orpha wrote. As Berry Chase Is my GGGGrandfather I would like to have a copy of the paper and would be more than happy to pay for any expence. Thank you, Maxine
Dear Rose, You will be receiving by snail mail the copy of the scroll tree written in 1961. Take a good look at it and if your Chases connect then by all means it should be yours. If not, then please mail the information once again through this Chase group. Someone will claim it. I am very happy to send it as I know how elated I am to receive such documents from people. Enjoy. The following site is a MUST on any Chase Researchers List. http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/asp/choosea.asp It is what the site calls The Eastern States Land Rgistry. It covers what I would have termed the the more Western of the "East" States. covering the band of the States due south of the Great Lakes MN to FLA It is a registry of LAND GRANTS for those states. I found 21 for CHASE in Ohio " over 200 " " " Wisconsin " 195 " " Missouri " 48 " " Florida I did not look further. Apart from all the details of Who,Where,When but you can also download an image of the ORIGINAL document. Of course other names can be searched. I should add that the way I found I was a CHASE descendant was by writing to New Brunswick Archives for HUME Land Grant details. Where did I find this info? On the Resource Center Page of Surnameweb who update daily. Please let me know if you find anything there of your family. I have already sent an email to see if there is a similar facility for the rest of the USA. ***************************************************************************** * THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE KIND OF ARCHIVES I AM LOOKING FOR FOR THE ARCHIVE *SECTION ***************************************************************************** Keith Hume
Does anyone connect with the following names? William Chase who lived in Orleans Co., N.Y. from 1833 to 1840. William Chase, father of David Chase lived in Union Branch, Mich. in 1850-1850-1870. He moved to Republic Co., Kans. in 1880. Then moved to Eugene, O. in 1889. The following names were given here on this real family tree. William of Yarmouth, Barnstable, Mass. John Chase, Thomas Chase, Rev. Richard Chase, Berry Chase Berry, Gowell, Baker, Bowen were some of the names. I have a hand written parchment paper family tree of this Chase Family and I'll be happy to mail it to anyone who claims they belong to it. Someone by the name of Orpha Chase from Springfield, Oregon drew it in 1961. One of my Chase cousins sent it to me while I was working on my book with the thought that they might be our lines. Just let me know out there if any of you connect. G. in Az.

Dear Keith, I know the book was available in England. George Piggin, the author, may still be alive. His address was Amy Lane, Chesham, Bucks. He is the keeper of the Parish Records at St. Mary's Church in Chesham. It may be worthwhile to look him up to see if he is still alive. Good Luck, Lisa Zajkowski
I have been away for a while and not up on the Chase site. What do you want us to do? Sorry to be so 'out of it'. What is the address of the Chase site? Thanks, Ginny Core
