Somewhere in Utah in the early 1900 was a descendant of Joseph Chase and Sarah Marshall named, Zora or Zella Shaw? Anyone know of this family?
Is anyone out there related to or know about Ransom Jay Chase,Jr born 1878, whose mother was Sarah Marshall, whose father was Ransom Jay Chase.(1840-1911)?
Jerry, the line of Timothy & Sarah is on the web site. I'm also descent of Timothy, through their son Ezra. I know a cousin here in Provo that is through your line, Sisson Almadorus is his grandfather. Timothy's father is James Jr., who married a cousin, Huldah WINSLOW. The lines: James Jr, James, Isaac, William (III), William (II), William, Aquilla. For Huldah WINSLOW: Betsy HATHAWAY, Phillipia CHASE, Benjamin CHASE, William, Aquilla. Note that Benjamin is a brother to William (II); also, Benjamin & William (III) married sisters. Jerry, you are apparently descended from William Chase. I found the following information in the July 1922 issue of the Chase Chronicle. Abner Chase, the 8th in line from William the emigrant, (Timothy, James, Isaac, William, William, William.) was born Apr. 24, 1784, in Little Compton, Rhode Island. He married Amy Scott, who was born Oct. 5th, 1789, in Rupert, New York - or New Jersey. The daughter of Amos and Miriam (Eastman) Scott. She was married to Abner, son of Timothy and Sarah (Simmons) Chase. About 6 pages are devoted to the descendants of this family. If you still need it, let me know. Jenn (JVellu@aol.com) Three weeks ago you made a post on Abner CHASE and listed 3 generations. I have a Nelson CHASE of unknown birth or place of birth. I know nothing about his parents or any siblings he may have had. He and an unknown wife had a least one child: Nial N. (Nelson?) CHASE born 1849 in Ohio. Based on Nial's birth date, Nelson could have been born in the mid to late 1820's. Nial Chase was married Sarah Isabell SMITH in 1871 in Clark Co., IL and subsequently migrated to Jersey Co., Montgomery Co., and ultimately Peoria Co., IL.. Have descendant information on Nial's family. Hoping for a match. Dick CAPTRLH@aol.com

Joan Bishop Parents of Richard Date: Sat, 27 Feb 1999 11:27:17 EST Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit I think this is a different Richard Chase and you have mixed two families: Here's the information I have: Richard Chases' parents were Matthew Chase born approx. 1486 and Elizabeth Bould approx 1488. His siblings were Thomas, Francis, John, Matthew, William, Ralph, Bridget. The Richard Chase married to Joan Bishop also had a son named Ezekiel who married a Mary Roberts. My descendent is the one that came from Thomas and Elizabeth Bowchiew. --part0_920132910_boundary--
According to the John Carroll Chase / George Chamberlain investigation (and they are considered to be competent genealogists) the parents of Richard (bp 23 Aug 1542) were Thomas Chase (born abt 1520, buried 27 Jun 1586), and an Elizabeth, whose last name they were unable to confirm with certainty. Other sources identify her as Elizabeth Bowchiew. I don't believe that I have ever encountered the other names of the other possible parents that you mention, Richard Chase and Mary Roberts, so I have no idea just where they came from. Dick Chase
Hi I am looking for who the correct parents are of Richard Chase b. 1542 I have Richard Chase m. Mary Roberts and Thomas Chase m. Elizabeth Bowchiew I don't know which of the two sets of Parents are the correct ones. Thanks, Jerry Eakle
Further to my earlier messasge. The Researcher page is now working OK, Keith Hume Keith Hume, email khume@netcomuk.co.uk http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~khume/home.html CHASE-L Website at:- http://www.surnameweb.org/centers/c/chase/index.html Kent,England Researching:- HULME,DAWSON,(In Lancs.) ALL, The database is now working properly. It has the latest features included and acting on SurnameWeb advice and bowing to requests from CHASE-L Members there is now the ability to download GEDCOMS. ALL THOSE WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED PLEASE CHECK YOUR INFORMATION IS OK I do hope no one objects to this and I trust that researchers will only download gedcoms relative to their own lines. The Researcher Page does not appear to be working properly and I intend to change the script when I can find it on the new Server. For myself I find the new Server a shade slower than the old but looking from the ftp side when I have acessed our files I see there are about 60% more visitors than previously which may account for the slight slowing down, Keith Hume Keith Hume, email khume@netcomuk.co.uk http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~khume/home.html CHASE-L Website at:- http://www.surnameweb.org/centers/c/chase/index.html Kent,England Researching:- HULME,DAWSON,(In Lancs.) We arer still having trouble with corrupted files stopping the CHASE site from working properly. This is a complex problem as I have to use a new log-on procedure and it means altering some of .cgi scripts to make the Researcher Book and database work. Please bear with me! It is not Surnameweb's fault-we are just suffering as I use the same Server as them as this allows the use of scripts and we/they are having problems getting it sorted but we will, Keith Hume Keith Hume, email khume@netcomuk.co.uk http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~khume/home.html CHASE-L Website at:- http://www.surnameweb.org/centers/c/chase/index.html Kent,England Researching:- HULME,DAWSON,(In Lancs.) ALL, Recently the Miakron,(SurnameWeb's server),files were transferred to a new server In the process of transfering the Surnameweb files their have been some problems particularly with the Database and Researcher pages. The Surname web people are trying to sort this out. Please be patient, Keith Hume

To Whom It May Concern: I have subscribed because I have been trying to trace my family ancestory and noticed the family last name of " Merry" on the web page about Martha's Vinyard. I would like to know if the "Merry's" that are listed on there were any relation of mine. If you could research this for me and give me any information, I would greatly appreciate it. The only information I can give you on my family is: My great-great grandfather was Frederick Merry, born in September of 1812 and died on August 15, 1900 in Harrisburg, New York. We do not know where his family was from or who his parents were. Again, thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon. Dawn Juby
Aquila Chase As I think of Aquila Chase And size him up and down, He was just a common farmer In a small New England town But beneath that garb of his There throbbed a heart as kind, As the maker in his wisdom Ever made to match a mind. And so it is that I rhyme his name With everything that is grand, With all the praise that I can give to make you understand. Though nature never gifted him With silver-plated speech, It never filled his mind with thoughts his language could not reach. More than that she gave him Common sense enough to know, That the simple path of duty Was the one in which to go. Aquila Chase with Wheeler Ann, Took up the yoke together; And in sixteen hundred forty-six they braved New England's weather They blazed the way for you and me Each an advancing pioneer, That we might live in this fair land, Land of freedom and good cheer. Eleven children blessed this home Ann, Sarah, John, and Priscilla, Mary, Elizabeth, Thomas, Ruth, Moses, Daniel and Aquila. This family of whom we are proud, May their memory live forever; We'll do no act to soil it's fame; no never, never, NEVER. So may we live in that same way As our fathers have before, And when we are ushered into heaven They'll meet us at the door. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Composed by Rev. H.B. Chase, a Red Cross officer of Charbonneau, North Dakota and appearing in the July, 1919 issue of the Chase Chronicle.
