Classification: Deed Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iUI.2ACIB/1398.1401 Message Board Post: I ran across an old deed dated in 1834 where Mordecai Chandler, spelled 'Mordicai', bought at a sheriff's sale a land lot in Floyd County, GA. The deed was recorded in Chattooga County, GA in the 1850's, almost certainly because the northern part of Floyd Co., where the property appears to be located, was cut off in 1838 to form the southern part of Chattooga. Both Floyd and Chattooga Cos. are in NW GA on the Alabama line. Let me know if you want the cite and I'll look it up for you.
