I have tried to follow up on Harlow Chandler's helpful reply by checking the Massachusetts 1850 Census for Samuel aged about 27 and his family. I have eliminated most of the search results, but the two remaining and most promising ones (one in Plymouth Co., Duxbury Twp., the other in Norfolk Co., Sharon Twp.) link to census images of the wrong county and township. I have notified Ancestry of these errors, but I do not know how long it will take for the computer links to be corrected.
