I know all kinds of stuff about my grandfather and his family. His full name was Earl Baxter Chandler. He was born in Alsea, OR. His father was born in TX and began his family there, then moved to OR and continued his family, and finally moved to CA and had some more children. Earl's father also came from a large family and I do have quite a bit of info on them but right off the top of my head I'm not sure if any of them came to WA state or not. I could double check and get back to you. Do you know who Joseph B. Chandler's parents were? >> Hi ! Cheri; I am presuming that Orondo is in Washington State, is that right ? I was hoping that your Earl Baxter, might have been Earl Buster, which is the middle name of my father. I seem to be grasping at straws when it comes to finding any information on a Chandler family that I know nothing about. My father Joe, b. 09/09/1899 Spokane, WA. Said he left home at the age of eight years, so he didn't remember much about his family. His mother died abt. 1901/02 when he was two or three. He doesn't remember any brothers or sisters, although he had an Aunt & Uncle, and he wasn't sure what side of the family they were on. It could have been a Chandler Uncle or a Chandler Aunt which would have become a different surname. I tend to go along with the Aunt because he said he lived with her for a while and that would explain why I cannot find him listed in 1900/1910 in a Chandler family. My father was apparently not sure what name or what state his father was from. On his Social Security application he stated his father's name was John J. Chandler. On his marriage application he stated his father's name was A. J. Chandler from Iowa. The 1920 Pacific County census states his father was born in Indiana, but it also says Joseph was born in Illinois and mother was born in Iowa. This Joseph is listed as being born in 1895 instead of 1899, so I think well maybe this is not my father after all. But then again I say, just how many Joseph B, Chandler's can there be in the state of Washington ? There was a Joe Chandler in Spokane Co., but he was born in 1904 and I have verified him as being dead before my father. Since most of my research has failed to find my father's family think the only source left is to find a Chandler family in Washington that has a diary or family bible that may mention my dad. Thanks for your time; Sincerely; Dave Chandler [email protected]
