Hello, Chandler Cousins! I’m looking for information about Joel Burnham Chandler and his wife Harriet Parker, who went west to Stephen’s Point, Wisconsin before the Civil War with their little daughter Louisa Maria Chandler, born in 1851 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Louisa married David W. Switzer on July 19, 1869 in Clinton, Iowa. Louisa and David were my great grandparents. I do not know anything about Joel Burnham Chandler except the family tradition that he was also from the Essex County area of Massachusetts. Harriet Parker was the daughter of Asa Parker (March 17, 1791- April 7, 1814) and Elizabeth Richardson (b. June 16, 1797), both of Dracut. I have a drawing of Harriet Parker Chandler looking sad and serene, and an old photograph of Harriet with her sister and their eight brothers, the brothers looking solemn and the sisters tired - perhaps too much laundry and cooking for all those brothers?
