Hi I am new to the list and I researching the following Chandler Family. Edwin Reed/Read Chandler born in NY married Eliza Jane Sharp or Manning. Edwin was a fireman and died in the line of duty between 1865 and 1870 (probably in the Brooklyn, NY area) Their youngest child (my g-grandmother, Harriet Elizabeth Chandler was born 3/25/1866 and he is not listed in the 1870 census) Eliza is listed in the 1870 NY census in the 14th Ward with the following people in the house. Eliza Chandler, 39years old, keeps house, birth place NY, parents foreign born John, 20, rule (r) (w) (m), born in NY Edwin, 17, laborer, NY William, 14, born in NY David, 10, born in NY Harriet, 5, born in NY, she married Benjamin Pease/Pease Baldwin Mary, 90, at home, born in NY (possibly Edwin's mother) Eliza remarried to George Oakley. There was a Daniel Oakley and family living by them in the 1870 census (same census page as Eliza) so he might have been related.
