I have read that the name Chandler was an occupation on a ship. Nearly every ship had a chandler, a keeper who maintained and ordered the supplies for the ship. But looking in the dictionary, a chandler was one who made candles; or a trader; or a dealer. There were so many chandlers that I have given up trying to connect unrelated families. My mother-in-law was another one of these thousands of chandlers. But she was from Lynn, Mass. Her ancerstry seems to come from Quincy, MA
