    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iUI.2ACIB/693.734.1033.2.1.2.1.1 Message Board Post: The information you have is VERY MUCH out of date. Some is just plain wrong; other matters have been clarified or supplemented by work done by Chandler Family Association researchers and me independently ca. 1995 to the present. MANY, MANY people have copied the same old tired and unsupported claims that have been circulating since a typescript genealogy about 1610 (not 1609) John Chandler (b. 1600, not 1599) was produced in 1931 - and, of course, posted it on the WWW. ERROR EXAMPLES: John m. Elizabeth -?-, the widow Lupo - Lupo was not her maiden name. The surname of the wife of Robert (ca. 1630-1669) is unknown - the claim that she was a Davis resulted from someone who ignorantly or carelessly concluded that the words "godfather" (the will of William Davis) and "grandfather" are the same thing. The surname of Robert II, son of the above, is unknown. You may also be missing one or more generations. For the latest information, consult several articles that I authored in "Tidewater Virginia Families," a Virginia periodical magazine of history and genealogy beginning with the August/September 2000 issue. For your line you should also read Part II (May/June 2001) and Part III (May/June 2002). TVF is available in most libraries carrying Virginia genealogical periodicals. Single issues/back issues MAY also still be available from the publisher who can be reached at <tvf@erols.com>. These articles will NOT take you all the way down your branch to Shadrack, so you should also consider purchasing a copy of the "John Chandler Descent Book" and acompanying Index from Jim Reeves of the Chandler Family Association. Contact him at <jer@erols.com>. HOWEVER, keep in mind that this document - which contains more than 93,000 names, most of whom are believed to descend from 1610 immigrant John - is NOT DOCUMENTED and should be used only as a guide and for clues, subject to independent verification.
