Hi, Here's what I have on my Chandlers: Edmund CHANDLER (b1582, Suffolk, Eng., d5-2-1662, Plymouth, Mass) married Jane GITTON (b1587, Eng) Their daughter Ann CHANDLER (bc1610, d5-10-1682 Salem, Mass) married John PICKWORTH in 1631 in Plymouth, Mass. Gayle [email protected]
Hi Pat I looked up [and didn't find] "Allen Chandler" in the "Christian Name of Chandlers" Index in George Chandlers book: "The Chandler Family-- The Descendants of William and Annis Chandler Who Settled In Roxbury, Mass., 1637". Neither was Temperance Davenport in the Index of "Names Other Than Chandlers". Sometimes the process of finding who someone *is*, is finding out who he *isn't*!! Best Wishes Sally
I am seeking information on Allen Chandler (1812-1887) who lived in the Greenville District of South Carolina. He was married to Temperance Davenport. Someone suggested he was the son of Henry the son of William, but I don't know where that information came from. Can anyone help? I would love to trade information. My ancestor stayed in the area although he may have had siblings that left. In 1850 all of these Chandlers were living near each other. ***W. C. Chandler 42 with wife Leanna children Mary, Sarah and Pinckney ***Allen Chandler 38 with wife Termperance and children ***Susan Chandler 60 with 2 daughters ***Josiah Chandler 42 with wife Elizabeth and children ***William Chandler 21 and wife Parthana. Is Susan the mother of the boys mentioned? Can you shed some light on this? Do you know who Susan was the widow of? Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks, pat
Hi Troy You wrote: > Sally, would it be possible that a John Chandler ca. 1793 GA. husband of Rhoda > Sandidge be in the book? Children were Garrett Sandridge, 1814. Bethel Green, > 1817, GA. If there is any connection here please let me know. Troy I looked up "Rhoda Sandridge" in the "Names Other Than Chandlers" Index in George Chandler's book. I didn't find her name. "Garrett" and "Bethel" are unusual names, so I looked them up in the "Christian name of Chandlers" Index; they weren't listed, either. Happy Hunting, Sally
Hi Nadene I looked up "Martha Kiger" in the "Names Other Than Chandlers" Index in George Chandler's book" The Chandler Family: Descendants of William and Annis Who Settled In roxbury, Mass., 1637" which was published in 1883. I didn't find her name; I would conclude that your Robert was not descended from this branch. Sometimes the process of finding who someone *is*, is finding out who he *isn't*!! Happy Hunting, Sally
Hi, Mary, I have nothing particularly useful to add .... my grandfather's geneology is confusing in this generation, an your information is more detailed than my own. I am a descendent of Thomas and Hannah's son William, for whom I have the marriage date of 1687. Thanks for William's birthdate, which I did not have. - Roger Chandler Brown At 08:59 PM 9/4/99 -0400, you wrote: >Hi all: >I am looking for a birth date of Hannah Chandler the daughter of Cpt Thomas >Chandler and Hannah Brewer. My great grandfather, Robert T. Chandler was born abt 1844 in Halifax county, VA. I cannot confirm this though. He moved to Hickman County KY in the early 1860's with two brothers, John and Daniel. Daniel later returned to VA. Robert T. married Martha Kiger and their children were: Robert Lee "Bob" born Nov 30, 1867 (my grandfather), Mary born abt 1868, James born abt 1870, Sallie born abt 1874, Gid Bentford born abt 1876, John born abt 1878, Adline born abt 1878 (John and Adline were twins), and Arley born Aug 10, 1884. If anyone has any info as to who Robert T. Chandlers parents were, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks Nadene Chandler Johnson.
I used multi-search method and this is the only Chandler Motor Company I could locate: http://www.nissandealer.com/chandler/ Joe D. Deaver Descendent of Mary S. Chandler Deaver 1810-1869 [email protected] ======================= Date: Wed, 8 Sep 1999 15:10:27 -0400 From: Lesley Chandler <[email protected]> Subject: CHANDLER Motor Company? Hello from England... Can anyone in the States tell me if there has been a Chandler Motor Company in the U.S.? It's family legend, you see, that two of my Grandfather's cousins emigrated to America early this century and founded the Chandler Motor Company, that it was leter neme-changed to the Essex Motor Company and finally got "rationalised" by General Motors... Is this what someone in Britain might call "a load of old tosh", or is there any ring of truth to it? Best wishes , Stephen Chandler, in Redruth, Cornwall, UK, where autumn is arriving noisily (in other words the wind is blowing a gale and it's pouring with rain).

Hi All: Does anyone know the time that the family reunion is supposed to start on Fraidy in Lake City? I would like to go and it will take me a couple hours to get therir so I would like to know when it starts. Thanks. Mary Lou
Dear Sally, I noticed your reference to a Chandler book in your reply to Holly. I am desperately looking for info on a George Chandler who died coming to this country in thr 1600's. He was m to a Jane Smith and had a daughter Ann who was three years old when they arrived here. They settled in the Philadelphia area but I wondered if your book mentioned that line. Would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you so much. Cleona
I am trying to find information on Sidney Chandler born 1886. His father was also a sydney (Sidney). I can find no Sidney on the Kanawha, Boone nor Lincoln Counties Census from 1850 up. I find the son Sidney on1920 Kanawha County Census as: Sid Chandler Iva Rose Harold Samuel (ours) Clifford, Ernestine (She married a Withrow) I was recently told that this family of Chandlers may have come from Amish Country, for several reasons. I might mention, Sid married Iva Rose Songer, daughter of John Hess Songer. Thanks
Mary Lou, RE: Andover Vital records and Chandlers Some early Andover Chandlers moved to Tewksbury (town next to Andover; Chandler Street in Tewksbury goes to Andover. The intersection of Chandler Street and Main was (is?) known as Chandlers Corner). Tewksbury Vital Records might be of help for some. :-), Betty Cole P (who when she grew up on Chandlers Corner did not know that she was a Chandler)
I don't have a specific date for Hannah's birth, but I can offer this much from George Chandler's book "The Chandler Family: The Descendants of William and Annis Chandler Who Settled In Roxbury, Mass., 1637" [published 1883 ; Press of Charles Hamilton, Worcester, Mass.] Hannah was the 3rd of 8 children -- between John and William as you stated. John's birthdate is given as "14 March 1655". William's says "28 May O.S. 1659" ["O.S.", meaning "Old Style" calendar -- I think I have a book that explains that further, if you need it.] All of this preceding info is from page 11. On page 27 there is more info regarding her husband, Daniel (parentage, etc.); their children are listed on this page as well. Hannah's death is given as 20 Nov 1730 in Andover. Perhaps her death record [if there is one that early!] would tell her age, and bring you closer to her birth date .... just a thought. Happy Hunting Sally [through the Chandler line via Hannah's younger brother Henry, child #7]
Hi all: I am looking for a birth date of Hannah Chandler the daughter of Cpt Thomas Chandler and Hannah Brewer. She married Daniel Bixby 2 Dec 1674. Which I found in the Andover Vital records. I have the births of the last five children of Thomas and Hannah from the vital records of andover. but can't seam to fine the first 3. Hannah is listed between John and William in most lists. John born 1654/5 and William b. 1659. Savage just list her with a ; after her name. I come up with some time about 1657 form the item in the salem wicth trils the section on Andover wictches.p 233 lists her as 35 and that was in 1692. I would really appreciate it if some one has her birth information if they would let me know the date and where they got it. Thanks for your help. Mary Lou

I am new to this list. I am looking for parents and other information for Grace who was born December 16, 1879 in Maine. She had brothers that I know of: Moses and Albert. TIA
Diane: I am from West Liberty, Iowa and I do have a Chandler in my line but she came from London. Charlotte married Franz Lehmann and they moved to West Branch, Iowa. Many of the Lehmanns moved to Liberty. Recently my wife and I were back there for 4 days and went to the Historical Society in Iowa City where they have many records and census films plus a large newspaper file. They are not open on Sunday or Monday. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Cliff & Rose Trimble. [email protected] wrote: > <My CHANDLER was born in Iowa. That seems to be unusual.
