If he married there in the next few years he may be listed with information on his wife in one of the filmed records available through the family History Library http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp Marriage records, 1867-1929 Authors Cleburne County (Alabama). Judge of Probate (Main Author) Notes Microfilm of original records in the County Courthouse in Heflin, Alabama. If you haven't looked at the GenWeb page for the county you might try it http://www.rootsweb.com/~alclebur/ You can find an address for the county historical society there, and it is possible they might be able to check the marriage records [which have been published and are also available for purchase through links on the GenWeb page].

I'm fairly certain about the date because I never enter a date unless I'm certain of the source. (In this case I failed to enter the source). I would say that he died in TX or OK at the age of 100 years. Since his oldest son died three years prior and died in CA maybe John Wesley died in CA also? So one of these three states is the likely target of research. Have you found any death index for these states that might be helpful? Have you looked at web resources for help? 2. Dick Chandler
    3. Hi there I refer to your posting to the Rootsweb CHANDLER list on 8th September, enquiring about Frederick George Chandler who married Dora Emily Cook and lived in Hertford, England. This marriage was registered at Hertford in the September quarter of 1895 (Volume 3a Page 869). With this information, you can obtain a copy of the marriage certificate for 8.5 pounds sterling - this should give you the addresses of the bride and groom and the names and trades of their fathers, permitting further research. Please contact me direct by e-mailing dchandler@sunwave.net if you don't know how to apply for a copy of the certificate and would like me to get it for you at cost. I would like to hear from you anyhow, to know how you are descended from Frederick George Chandler. Best wishes for now Dick Chandler in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada

    3. I refer to your 8th September posting enquiring about William Chandler born 1837 in Halstead, Essex, England. I assume you got this information from the 1881 Census. I have a full analysis of Chandlers in the 1851 Census, where we would expect to find William aged about 14, possibly living at home with his parents or possibly working and living away from home. Unfortunately, there are no Williams of that age or close to it born in Halstead or anywhere near it. This is not too unusual - people often gave the place where they grew up as their place of birth when they were the submitter of the information (in this case, in 1881), whereas their father or employer gave different information in an earlier census. If you have no other information, perhaps the most fruitful route is to try to find the marriage of William to Maria. As their son Edward was born in 1858 or 1859 at Barkingside, the most probable William Chandler marriage is the one registered at Romford in the September quarter of 1855 (Volume 4a Page 87). The only way to ascertain if this is the marriage to Maria is to buy a copy of the certificate. It should also provide his father's name and trade, and some form of address. I can get this for you at cost (about 14 US$) if you don't know how to do it. Please contact me directly at dchandler@sunwave.net Best wishes Dick Chandler in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada

    2. Hi ! Donna, I have been in search of my father's birth location for many years. As I mentioned before, all information I have states he was born Joe or Joseph Buster Chandler, Spokane, Washington, Sep. 09. 1899. Father's name either John J. or A.J. Chandler. Mother's name unknown. Since most of my search has been in trying to find Joe in Washington & surrounding States, I have concentrated mostly in those areas and primarily 1900-1910-1920 census. I am sorry that I do not have any information for you on your George, since I don't go back that many years in my search yet. If I ever get past the 1900's maybe I will see something on George Chandler - mid 1700's. He married Frances Chandler 29Dec1827 in Lauderdale Co. Alabama. Frances was born 1806 in Virginia. The couple remained in Alabama until approximately 1833 when they moved to Tennessee and had several additional children. The family removed to Smackover Township, Ouachita County, Arkansas prior to 1850. Frances appears by herself in the 1860 census and the 1870 census at the age of 63 suggesting that Benjamin had passed by 1860. Lenorah married Miles Joshua Gentry in the mid 1860's and they removed to Hempstead county sometime after 1870, Several of the children appear in Hempstead County, Arkansas later. So we are some degree of cousins. Cynthia is a descendant of Edmund Chandler of the Leiden Pilgrims, but did not come over until 1629 or 30. Linage is: Edmund (about 1588 to 1662), Benjamin and Elizabeth Buck(about 1634 to 1691), Joseph and Elizabeth Bonney (1691 to 1774) who went to Cornwall, CT. in 1748, then Abner,Sr. and Sarah Hill (1735 to 1812) who went to Piermont, NH with his sons, Abner, Jr. and Fanny Abbott (1763 to I am not sure). Cynthia is the fifth of ten children of Abner and Fanny. Fanny has been my biggest block. I can not connect her to any Abbotts, although I think she may have been from a family who was also in Cornwall. I have additional information and would love to hear about Cynthia's descendants. I have ( and this is not confirmed) that she had two children with Jonathan Ward and ten with Samuel Titus. Her sister Marian married an Anson Titus who I have been told is Samuel's brother. They supposedly went to Ohio where several other Chandler siblings migrated. My gggf stayed in NH. Hope to hear from you. Barbara

There's an LDS ancestral file that takes Cynthia's line back to the Duxbury Chandlers. It says she's in the line of Joseph Chandler and Deborah Bonney. I have not been able to check this out, but it looks possible, and you might want to try to verify it. If this is the line, be advised that this Joseph is recognized by the Mayflower Society as the son of Benjamin Chandler and Elizabeth Buck, NOT the son of Edmund Chandler and Elizabeth Alden, for whom there are no proven surviving children despite numerous online trees that say otherwise. I don't have much extra time right now, but if you haven't seen the Titus book and can't get it I could send you some of the information in the book when I'm able if you like.
