My ancestor grandfather Jesse Jeffery was a counterfeiter who made his money in the Chandler Cave up in Ark--I believe in or around Lawrence Co. He was also a boot legger who died by the gun. A nephew of my ancestor JJ Sams wrote about the Chandler Cave. That story can be found on Arkansas genealogy--the site I can't remember the name of it but it is like the first one. However, I do have a Chandler line who were on the up and up. My ancestor grandfather Wm.Jesse Chandler was an Elk member which I have a photo of him. I know the photo must have been taken around the early 1880's--he looks to be in his early 30s. Jesse Jeffery was his grandfather on his mothers side.
