She lists Isaac CHANDLER as the son of Robert CHANDLER, born 10 Jan 1777, in Henry Co., VA. He died 18 Sep 1854 in Chattooga Co., GA. Annamae states in the book that Isaac "moved with his folks from Henry, VA, to Wilkes Co., NC, to Laurens Co., SC, to Wilson Co., TN, and then to Jackson Co., GA on his own." Annamae further states that Isaac "bought 174 acres of land on Simmons Creek in Newberry, SC (part of a 2000-acre grant given William Bull)." Annamae says that in 1816, "Isaac was in GA, with his brother, Parks. Isaac bought 150 acres of land for $900 on 13 Jan 1816 in Jackson Co., GA. The farming was poor there, so he moved before the 1830 Census to Chattooga Co., GA, near his cousin, Abraham CHANDLER. He is listed on the 1830-1840 Census in Broom Town Valley, Chattooga Co., GA., with 6 sons and 1 daughter." However, according to Annamae, ! he names more girls than boys in his will. A footnote states that the will in Will Book A-60 may NOT be his will. She further states that an Isaac who married Hannah Hoy died in Jackson Co. (1777-1854). That Isaac CHANDLER was the son of Bailey A. CHANDLER, son of Hezekiah CHANDLER. Annamae states that Isaac CHANDLER, son of Robert CHANDLER, was his youngest son. Annamae says that Isaac married 1st Sally [--?--], ca. 1797, in Laurens Co., SC. It is unknown what happened afterwards. He married Martha [--?--], ca. 1810, in GA. She died ca. 1870 in Chattooga Co., GA. Children of Isaac CHANDLER: According to Annamae, Isaac CHANDLER, JR. was born ca. 1797, in Newberry Dist./Laurens, SC. He was a son of Isaac and Sally CHANDLER. He married ca. 1820. I have just started researching this line and am not aware of any Richards. I will hang onto your e-mail addy and send you any info I turn up that looks promising. jean in Tucson

Who were his parents? Do you have any idea where the name "Parks" came from? The reason I'm asking is that I have a Parks Chandler who was the son of Richard Chandler and Charity Parks. Parks Chandler was born about 1799-1800. I have also found a Parks Chandler who was from TN I believe. I believe there may have been a Parks-Chandler marriage before Richard Chandler and Charity Parks. But who I haven't a clue as of yet. I have been working several years trying to find parents for my Richard Chandler as have others. I believe that Richard's father was a brother to Joseph Chandler who married Nancy Turman. (settled in Franklin Co. GA, after living in several other counties of GA). I believe again but can't prove as of yet, that William brother to Joseph may have been the father of Richard. That this William may have died young, that Richard may not have had any brothers. That could be the reason why no parents can be found for Richard. ! He may have been raised by a Chandler relative. On the 1830 Jackson Co. GA census there is a Parks Chandler, with 1 male under 5, 1 male 15-20, 1 male 60/70, 1 female under 5, 1 female 10-15, 2 females 15-20 and 1 female 20-30. Is this your Parks Chandler? If so, is he the older male in this family?

The Jackson Co., GA- CHANDLERs seemed to be descended from Robert's son Parks-- so there is a definate tie there. Parks was mentioned in his father's 1805 Will. The Isaac I am looking for, ther one who ended up in Chattooga Co., GA by 1838, appears to have been born in SC. Also all fivr children list SC as their birthplace on various censuses. Bith yeasr cover 1820-1831. So I am pretty sure this Isaac would have been in SC in 1820. I have a candidate who shows up in Grenville Co., SC on the 1820. Correct age, but has some older children I cannot identify. Do you have any info on a CHANDLER group in Grenville Co., SC during the 1820-1830 period? jean

It is in no way a scholarly study. An Isaac Chandler was counted in the 1820 Jackson County, GA census and that is the only other info I have on Isaac. The omission of Isaac from the 1805 Will is noteworthy but probably inconclusive. Regards, Frank
