However, I am wondering if their is a link further back. Do you know the name of the slave measter who owned your family? I do not know the name of the slave master who owned mine. However if you knew yours then we could try to trace the slave master family to see if there was a move to the area where my ancesters were. Morris

It's possible if not the same John than maybe a cousin John. They named so many children as repeats after the same family member. There are five Roberts in my Grandpa's Solan's Family There are also some Womacks in Paris, Texas. They have the Floyd, Lemoine, and L.C. along with others. Nettie Ann and Maggie are John and Viola's daughters name along with Rosa Etta. Now those I know are from Alabama. Bertha

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iUI.2ACIB/1989.1 Message Board Post: There is an Ida B.Chandler in Collin Co. in 1880 according to the census extractions at the LDS website. You can search for Ida and get her family group there. The father of this Ida is John T. Chandler, 54 in 1880, born in TN, father b, VA and mother NC. This Ida was born in IL and the only John Chandler I could find in IL in 1870 of the right age and b. in TN was a John Chandler in Grove City, Christian Co., IL (Series: M593 Roll: 194 Page: 208 ). The information is a partial match, but it appears that the Mother of Ida had died by 1880 (as can be seen in the 1880 census) and the image of the 1870 census is so poor that I cannot make out several names, and I don't know that this is the same family.

Have you ever heard of him marrying a Russell? All we know is that when they married they lived in Limestone Co. Ala. Had two daughters Nettie and Maggie? Anyone in the family with those names? They usually named kids after their families. Then they moved to Howland , Texas near Paris, Texas. There they had two more Rosa Etta and Solon (Solen). They had Royce Edgar in Hillsbora Texas in Hill Co. Any of your family ever move there. They came back a couple of times to Ala. but I don'tknow where they went. I would love to find his parents. I want my children to know where we came from. The Russells of Pulaski , Tenn. have given us alot of information about Viola but I don't have anything to go on for John. My Aunt was telling me a story about Something she was told but I don't know if it's true. It was that John went to Texas with his family. He had two children when his ! died when he came back to Ala. Went to work for the Russells. Viola and John fell in love. He was 33 year and she was 15. Parents where against but they got married. They married in 1893. Came to Texas around 1904? That's as much as I can tell you except to go in depth about the Children of John Bethel and Viola Chandler. My Grandfather was Solen Chandler. I would love to have your information if you don't mind giving it to me. I have been going on their sons names and the girls names. Also on the names my Grandpa Solen gave his sons. They have to be family names. John Henry, Solon, Jerry Davis, Jimmy Dwane, Robert , Edgar Leon. Solens brother Lewis gave his oldest son the Clerence P. Chandler. I don't know but I'm looking. One of Lewis's granddaughters Betty Allred is also trying to trace them down. She lived in La. They have a long list of kids and grandchildren in their family also. Thanks for the information. We know there is a William in father of John Bethel because! it lists him on Robert Cleveland Samuel Chandlers Social Security app lication he made along with a Edna Trout Shelton. Thanks will get back with you with more later. Address Box 1304, Goliad, Texas. Also John Bethel and Viola lived in the Pettus, Texas Bee Co. area in the 1930's. There was a Thos. Chandler who had a father named William on his death certificate. His mother was named Heldabrad. Couldn't find a connection. I figured they might have moved next to family. This Thos. was from Skidmore.

Do you know if your John lived with a Granny Nancy JAmes or granny Nancy at any time. My Aunt said she always heard that John was born Dec. 27? 1855 and his mother died soon after his birth. He was raised by a Granny JAmes. They moved to Carroll Co. Tenn. in 1856. We found him in 1860 with them. That is to say if it's true. I don't know because on his death certificate it states Alabama. is his birth place. My Grandpa Solon is the one who was witness to his death and signed the paper. So I don't know. I do know what happened when he met Viola and then on. Would love to know more about your John to see if he could be ours. I know they lived in Limestone Co. Alabama in 1893 till they moved to Lamar Co. to Howland , Texas. It's a little ways out of Paris, Texas. There has to be family there. He has a Half-brother that was born there to a Edna Trout and William Chandler. I think this William has more to his name than William. There is a William Robert Chandler along with s! ome others. There was a G. Chandler that moved there in 1860. The John we found in 1870 had a family with a sister Elizabeth, wife, and a son George L. Chandler. The son was not very old. My John 's oldest daughter Nettie Ann married a Marvin Oliver Womack in Paris, Texas. Also another daughter Maggie married a David Land. Rosa Etta married a Maynard. Bertha
